Who would you rather have at QB? Seneca or Sage?
If you could pick either of those two quarterbacks, Seneca Wallace or Sage Rosenfels to QB Iowa State this season, who would you pick. In reality, our choice is similar. Bates in the Seneca mold, quick feet, running QB with a strong arm, and Arnaud, in the Sage mold, more classic, strong armed QB. Who would you choose?
I'd take Seneca.

If you molded the two together you would have the perfect qb. Personally I would take Sage. Seneca had some great plays that live in Cyclone lore forever, but he had some awful games too. (See at CU his senior year)
It's probably a push, but Sage has a had a more productive NFL career. Great question, and I hated to answer it.

I'd go with Sage - Just felt to me like you had a better idea of what you would get each game. I may be wrong on that it was a while ago that he was in college now. It has been fun being in Houston and getting to see him play with the Texans though.

Tough but when this questioned was brought up during last football season I went with Sage. The reason for this, Sage was pretty much a constant each game. You didn't always know what you were getting with Seneca.
For example Seneca had that terrible OU game under the lights at JTS where he fumbled 5 times and only had 54 yards of total offense.
I still don't think this is a great comparison for this current QB battle. Even though Sage could run, Austin is by far a better runner and just by how he ran last year in game, was almost more effective then Bret Meyer.
Bates while being quick with his feet are we sure he has the throw on a dime abilities that Seneca had??? Or even the ability to escape like Seneca and make decisions on the go.
I would like to compare this QB just how it is. Arnauld vs Bates. Neither one yet can compare or hold Seneca's or Sage's jock strap. Lets come back and compare at the end of the year.

I'd take Seneca. If Seneca had Sage's offensive lines, he would've put up incredible numbers. I'll take Seneca.

Re: Who would you rather have at QB? Seneca or Sage?
Sage definitely had a better host of characters around him. It would have been interesting to see what Seneca could have done with the same.
Much like I think we'll see that Arnaud/Bates will have better players around them similar to Sage.

I'd take Sage with the running game and the O-line he had, plus the coaching at that time(Loney). Put Seneca with that team and he would have been awesome.

And if he had a brusing back like Haywood caring the ball it would have taken a ton of pressure off of him. He could have really shined if he didn't have to do everything.

Doesn't this largely depend on the offensive line and the blocking scheme? The better scrambler would fare better if the line can't hold its blocks. I don't think we yet know enough about the down field capability of Bates. I suspect Arnaud has the nod on that based on how they were used last year.

Re: Who would you rather have at QB? Seneca or Sage?
I gotta give the edge to Sage. He's got more of a quarterback body and manages games better than I've seen out of Seneca. I think Sage is a bit more comfortable in the pocket, but I like Seneca's scrambling ability. Unfortunately, because of his line, he has to utilize that a little too much. Sometimes, it looks like SW has the O-line from the Allstate commercial.
Sage in a squeaker. But like someone else said, I hate to make the choice.
