There is some crazy excitement in the football team right now. Everyone and their mom is ready for football season to start again - Pollard would have to be crazy to not capitalize on this situation.
Personally, I would think killing this topic wouldn't be a mercy killing - but defense of one's sanity.

For 1 game, I pay over a 1000 dollars (flight, ticket, hotel, beer, bail). Take advantage of what you can while you are there.

After reading these threads ...sorry I have to leave for a moment to puke my guts out...There now I feel better...
I think that old fearless Jamie Pollard ain't so fearless after all!! Old Jamie should have just bit-the-bullet and RESEATED THE WHOLE DARNED FOOTBALL STADIUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That way no can gripe about sitting in the wrong section!!!!...Overpaying for said seats in said sections!!!!!!
People its as simple as this: WITHOUT THE MONEY YOUR FOOTBALL TEAM IS RELEGATED TO LAST PLACE IN THE BIG XII CONFERENCE!!!!
Time to stop whining and to start paying boys!!!! | | |

My point IS JP said in 2006 you have to give $250 to stay in section 12, now in 2008 he says you have to give $500. (this is 2 years later?) I know the people around me better than he does, THEY WILL NOT GIVE $500, they may still give $250 and move over, good for them, that is great, I am prould of them.
YES THERE IS CHEAP TICKETS, it gets us nothing.
HERE IS MY POINT: Jamie does NOT know his customer base. Don't go after the 12,000 present day season ticket holders. Go after the 70,000 NON GIVERS.
I backed Jamie on the NO single games tickets for Iowa, and NEBRASKA, good move. make people buy season tickets.
IN MY OPINION, he screwed the pooch thinking everyone would double their donation again 2 years later! It won't happen.
DON't tell me he has to ask, have some commen sense!
He never asked, he dictated.
There isn't 1,000s of fans knocking at the door for 10 yard line seats!!!
Give me a break! Section 12 is on the 10 yard line.
Jamie went after the wrong fans IN MY OPINION!
I will say it again, my seats will be empty other than the nebraska game, which will have been sold to a nebraska fan as a season ticket (WITH NO CONTRIBUTION THE NCC).
Is this good? why kick the loyal fan to the curb?
Most of you will never understand. I bet Jamie is right and you are wrong. Maybe I am wrong. My money says section 12 is full this season, which is the whole point. If people are willing to pay $500 for those seats then why sell them for $150 or $250. Big 12 = Big money needed to compete...or we get what we've had for 30 years...most of it losing seasons.

I was donating $50 last year, and was told I need to donate $500 this year to keep my tickets. I did it by donating $125 quarterly, and I am one year out of college on a single income. Nut up man!

Time to stop whining and to start paying boys!!!! I agree totally...as I said in another thread, he has tried to please everyone and in doing so is ending up making everyone mad. By the way...I pay over $1000 per seat in "donation" plus the cost of the ticket and my seat is in the upper deck even with the back end of the south endzone in Tiger Stadium.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Most of you will never understand. NO...... you're choosing to go to the curb..... there are plenty of seats available at your present giving level and others at $100 and others still with no donation. I'm sorry you're mad and I'm sorry you're giving up on ISU, but not so sorry that I think you should be given your $500 seats for $250. Trust me, someone else WILL pay for them. I know many who are either raising their donation or moving as required, but you're the first quitter I've heard of.
Times change and the change is happening now and you're only one of thousands who are affected. I think you'll regret leaving and come back later or you'll regret it and never come back and you'll live with regret.
Lastly, I think you are the one who really doesn't understand.

Settle down boys, we want every fan we can get from those with the big bucks to those that listen to John on the radio. Lets remember too that we are talking about contributions to the National Cyclone Club. This money funds the whole athletic department, what are there 18 sports and most non revenue? Yeah you give to the NCC for goods seats at football and basketball games but it really helps out with those olympic sports. That is where the original poster has a point, how do we convince those 70,000 (there should be a lot more than that) to contibute even if they could give a hoot about sports. 70,000 x $100 = a cool 7 million, I'm sure JP would not think that would suck!

I think people are really worked up about the double in donation required and forgetting this is the best time to do it. With the reseating of long time fans happening anyway as a result of the stadium improvement it offers a perfect time to shake everything up. I think it was a nice gesture to still allow people to up the donation and remain in the same seats they've always had rather than just reseat everyone, but hey... we're cyclone fans and by nature most of us are glass half empty types who would rather be pissed off at the extra money required rather than appreciative of the opportunity to stay.
Another plus I see is that the people who have been in the same seats for years but now their seats are gone as a result of the renovation have the ability to stay close by without getting on a waiting list because there will inevitably be people unwilling to up their donation. Now those wanting to stay in the same general area will be able to move into the seats vacated by fans unable to donate more.

He may be the first quitter who's a regular on cyclone fanatic because fanatics don't usually quit, but he's definitely not the first or only quitter out there. I know of 8 quitters who have - until 2008 - had anwhere from 2-8 season tickets each.
And I'm not so sure someone else will pay for all of the higher priced seats. At this time last year, Jamie had made all kinds of public statements praising fans for how many season tickets had been sold and there was a ticker on cyclones.com showing the season ticket totals rising to a new record. This year the ticket renewal deadline has come and gone and all we have from Jamie is silence on the subject and no news or ticker on the website. That sure doesn't sound like good news on the number of season tickets sold.

Generating more money through the football program is far more than just for the football program. We all know that the football and men's basketball program fund the rest of the sports. So if we don't want to catch up with the rest of the country on the cash, we just maybe could loose our wrestling program or girl's basketball program because of funding. JP will just keep putting up suites if the rest of the fans don't want thieir seats because it seems he can fill those.

It would be gymnastics, swimming, softball, volleyball, or soccer long before women's hoops took a hit. Wrestling, ummm....well, there is no way it's going anywhere.

You beat me to it. That is EXACTLY what I had in mind, and I haven't read that since sophmore year of high school. Watched the movie too... I can still see that scene | Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly! Go Cyclones, in accordance with Prophecy |
