We had to pay $250 to be on the Goal line! THE GOAL LINE! We didn't want to move because we liked our seats. They were under the over hang of upper deck. We now are upping it to $500 so that we can stay in same section or move over one. We lost are seats due to new luxury boxes. Should we complain because of new boxes? Cry about new boxes and loosing our seats? No, it is best to improve things so we will move we just request to be at the top of the section for fewer steps for my mother who still goes. So some of us are willing to pay $500 to stay on the GOAL LINE or improve to the 10yd line. It is the pure love of Cyclone Football that we spend for.

Besides it doesn't really cost you all of the $500. Most of it still gets to be a tax write off.

It is still $500, the difference is that not all of the $500 came after tax versus before tax. So it is STILL $500. The savings isn't huge, but there is a savings.

My advice would be to request a move to section N, F or D (upper half of those sections available for $250 donation). Yeah, they are upper level, but those are GREAT seats...30 yard line...and with your long-time donation, you should have the points to score some nice seats within that section.

My point IS JP said in 2006 you have to give $250 to stay in section 12, now in 2008 he says you have to give $500. (this is 2 years later?) I'm sorry you might have to give up your seat, but don't be upset with ISU. Feel fortunate that they waited until 2006 to ask you to increase your donation. Here is a flashback to 1975: Dow-Jones High: 860 Dow-Jones Low: 610 Cost of a new home: $39,300.00 Cost of a new car: $ 4,250.00 Median household income: $11,800.00 Cost of a first-class stamp: $0.10 Cost of a gallon of regular gas: $0.44 | | |

I'm a student and sit in the student section and I'm still a $250 donor to the Cyclone Club. I understand that Gene Chizik didn't come cheap.

Where do you get this info? I've been looking for similar stuff for 2006...

As much as I love to always have to pay $36 a season for any seats in Jack Trice I realize that it would get us nowhere in terms of getting revenue. Once I graduate next Spring I will have to problem budgeting $250 to donate to the National Cyclone Club and spend at least $300 on season tickets.
I can't remember who said this but it is very true "money can't buy you everything in the world but it sure makes some parts in life easier."

It looks like it has info for every year between 1960 and 1999.

-keep. I'm no tax accountant but it's still more then what you think there buddy. Federal law permits 80 percent of the contribution made for premium seating or luxury suites to be deducted on an annual basis. All other contributions, including those for scholarships and capital projects, are 100 percent deductible.
So if you are donating $500, $400 of that goes as a tax write off. So technically your only spending $100. So if you weren't deducting that $400 you were spending that in paying taxes.
Sorry there Kramer didn't mean to set you straight.

Mmmm...lets snap at one another more. I love it! All of you suck. You hear that? You're all horrible fans...except for me. I'm the best fan, just because I said so - well, Kramer said so too. Sorry to break that news to ya.
Seriously folks...donate more to keep your seats or don't. Whining about it won't get ya anywhere. It's the way of the world. If we want to improve and having a winning program, it's going to take money.
FTR, we're in Section 12 and moved up from Varsity/Century to Cardinal to keep our seats.

I guess it's better to revisit section 12 over and over than to visit chapter 13 one time.
