How will JTS compare?

First off, I am ecstatic at where our FB program is headed and am very excited about the new changes. With the bowling in of the end zone ultimately being the goal in the future I started to research other renovations that are going on. To be honest I was astounded at how many other universities were renovating their stadium and quite frankly they all looked very impressive (had a really good link but now I can't find it...). My question is, after JTS ultimately is bowled in and the east side is complete, where does it stand compared to other stadiums aesthetic wise, capacity wise, crowd noise, family atmosphere, and general game day experience.

I personally think JTS will be in the upper half of the big 12 with the new improvements. Capacity will be just at 60k, it will look great, crowd noise will be awesome, and the atmosphere has never really been a problem (for me at least). And yes I know we have a ways to go before we raise enough money for it but I'm bored and can't wait for FB season.

Hmmm, I dunno about that. There are some rather nice stadiums in this conference. And, we're not the only ones looking to upgrade.

We have the only stadium that is not bowled in on at least one end.

What we are trying to do is not be laughed at. We just have to stay close. We never will have anything too great for facilities. The indoor facility is solid, because if we didnt have that.... ouch.

Honestly, I think we are just treading water here. Bowling in the endzone is still years away, and it's something we HAVE to do if we want to keep pace in the conference.

I just want to know if those new fancy concession stands will have any food left after half time?

How many have actually seen other stadiums

in person.

Kansas was a dump the last time I was there.
Colorado has great scenery, but the stadium itself was nothing spectacular.
Nebraska just made some major improvements that I don't think they can pay for. (you don't hear much about it though) Before the upgrades their indoor facility was not as nice as ISU's and the area around the stadium just sucks.
Missouri was the best stadium I visited.
Oklahoma at one time had gravel for a walk way around the stadium. The inside was a bowl, but it had little character.
K State wasn't anything special. I know they have added some things there recently.
Baylor is a hole.

I have seen all of those stadiums in the last 10 years. Some have made some improvements since I last visited. (nebraska)

Part of the reason ISU constantly gets blasted about facilities is because their own fans don't have a clue. Recruits consistently talk about how nice the facilities are at ISU. The indoor facility is as nice as it gets. The stadium may need to be bowled in, but it is not a dump and ISU has one of the nicest settings for a stadium in my opinion.

I like the direction the of the facilities plan and it will definitely improve the appearance of the stadium on game day. Having said that, don't believe the mentality of some Cyclone fans that everything ISU has is somehow inferior.

Re: How will JTS compare?

I haven't been to every stadium in the conference but KU's will take some major work to be better than Trice in my opinion. I was shocked when I went there in 2005.

Oklahoma at one time had gravel for a walk way around the stadium. The inside was a bowl, but it had little character.
I've been to OU's stadium several times, once before the somewhat recent work where they added the second deck to one side... that place is simply amazing and it's spot in the direct center of campus I think is very cool. IMO the best college stadium I have ever been to and the best stadium I have been to other than Reliant.

I do agree that the practice facility is still top notch. But Jack Trice is probably one of the worst in the Big 12 comparatively, although I do say that without having visited several of the stadiums.

The more people come out, the more we will be forced to build to accommodate them. Gotta show there is a need to build more seats for Cyclones.

I wouldn't trade Trice for any other stadium. Love the place.
