Honey, I shrunk the kids!
Interesting to see on the updated roster to see how much some of last year's newcomers have shrunk. Jerrod Black is now 6-0 280. Allen Bell also dropped to 6-0. Michael Tate is now 6-4 295 (and a junior???). Doug Dedrick is merely 6-3 (but up to 288). Curtiz Mathis went from 6-3 to a more realistic 6-1 234. Chris Wier is only 6-1, while Chris Lyle now reads at 6-3 (but up to 258).
It always happens, I suppose, but it's always a shock to see it the first time.

That's funny, I was thinking the same thing when the updated roster came out. The discouraging thing was to see that most of our DT's were smaller than previously listed. Frere and Bailey Johnson were also shorter on this year's roster. Maybe it is a result of the constant pounding they are taking from KO and Baysinger.

Arnaud is listed as a hefty 230 though. Wow, that would be a big QB.

I think the weights are off, since Arnaud supposedly lost weight, and Franklin is 250 instead of 236.

Maybe it the Ames water. When I was in school there, I also lost two inches in height.

It appears that Chizik isn't about inflating sizes to make his team look bigger. About every team in the country does but it appears as if Gene doesn't. Doesn't really matter either way, its all about what happens on the field

When I was coaching high school football I weighed one of my guards in pads so he would be 160. We fudged numbers all the time but because we were tiny.

I'm kind of a big deal!

I like Gene's approach. When the players get face to face, they know if a guy is 6-1 and not 6-4. It certainly doesn't win any games to screw with the numbers.
