Add me as one who wishes Bruns would replace Eric "the Cyclones have to make a play" Heft in the FB booth. Bruns is more knowledgeable, more impartial, and I can understand him better. A previous poster is spot-on: listening to Heft, you'd think the refs were screwing us on every other play. It gets old.

I like Ben. But his voice seems to lack enthusiam at times. It can be downright depressing, especially after a loss.

Ben once commented in the post game report that Cyclone fans driving home should 'hit a Nebraska fan' as they departed the game. Priceless pause and nervous laughter from John following that one.

I really enjoy Bruns honesty during games. I remember listening to him during one of the first three games and he was just as frustrated as anyone and he was calling out guys that were doing less then stellar jobs. I like that in a broadcaster especially considering the PC guys who talk around the problems.
And as far as comparing him to Podalak, or Dolphin, or especially Zipperhead Zable?? You could castrate a monkey and put a microphone in his hands 5 minutes afterwards and you'd get a better play by play guy then all those 3 drunks combined.

Question for the day: Can I still make season tickets work for FB and MBB if I move to Canada? |

I do like Eric Heft, but what experience does he have with football?

Dead on, followed by him promoting the book on too many years of Chicken hawk photos and transcripts filled with much more of the ( inaudibles ). Throw in a few gulps of him drinking water(or something else) and sipping his canteen(I mean coffee).

Also a fan of Ben. He often says what many are thinking but can't/won't say. He's real and honest.

That is precisely why he wouldn't make it at any major network. Things are way too PC these days to get away with that for very long on an ESPN/FSN. I wish that weren't the case, because that makes for some very watered-down analysis, but such is life. Hopefully that means we can enjoy Ben doing Cyclone games for quite some time because of it.

Hopefully that means we can enjoy Ben doing Cyclone games for quite some time because of it. Might be different though when he isn't covering the college team he played for and is a big fan of. If he isn't covering the Cyclones, I think a lot of emotion gets left out and then he would be more PC. I'll take him though as I enjoy his honesty even if it's brutal at times.
By the way, welcome to CF as I see you just joined and this is your first post. You'll like it around here........ |

He merely played for ISU and was an All-American so yeah he's pretty full of it and wouldn't know anything about football or even coaching the O-line.
