Caught part of the Barnstomers game on Medicom tonight and Ben Bruns was doing comentary. I maybe bias but he needs to be doing game on ESPN he is a natural and knows what he is talking about. He does good work for CRN but needs to be in the booth with Eric and John. He just can add so much to the game and tells it like it is. I always enjoy when he is in the booth at the end of FB games.

I agree, Ben does an outstanding job. He always seems very well prepared and he is not afraid to speak the truth.
I am hoping someday he will be a coach for ISU.

He'd be a great replacement for Eric Heft if he ever left. (For football at least.)

Agreed. He ripped on the fans several years ago which made me grumpy, but he sure knows his football and doesn't sugar coat anything.

I've only seen him once or twice but thought he did a good job. The big networks will find him if he's as good as we think he is.

I'm kind of a big deal!

Always enjoy his sideline reports while listening to the football games.

I got the chance to visit with Ben for about a half hour a few weeks back. He's a great guy who bleeds cardinal and gold. We covered a lot of territory from his days at ISU to today. He's really excited about the current coaching staff and sees good things down the road. One interesting observation that he had was that Pete Taylor was the glue that held the athletic program together for a long time and when we lost him, it hurt.
I think he's going to keep his engineering day job, but pretty sure you'll see him on the side line or in the booth on weekends for years to come. | | |

Whenever he is on the sidlines for cyclone football games it seems like the line always cuts out. I think they need some better equipment or something because it's always impossible to hear him.

I think three people in the booth is one to many. I'll probably get thrown under the bus for this, but I wish Ben Bruns would replace Eric now. I just don't think Eric adds that much to the broadcast other than complain about the officials. Bruns played the game and is much more insightful, imho.

Agree. I always wondered how the LE thing would have turned out if Pete was alive.

I think game day coverage for both fb and bb (especially fb) is top notch. I wouldn't consider going to a game without headphones so I can get the scoop first hand. I am a huge fan of Ben Bruns, he's knowledgeable and honest, which is exactly what is needed at this point in ISU athletics. However, if Eric no longer did color, I would be as sad as when Pete was gone. Dammit bringing up bad memories for myself...
