There may be "no I in team" but there certainly is "an I in I-State"! Just kidding!
Somewhat humorous story...I was coaching my son's baseball team a few years back and we had 12 kids on the team. We put our sponsor's name above the numbers on the back of the jersey and while at one tournament I heard a woman remark..."look, everyone on that team is related"...unbelievable to me that someone would think that 12 eleven year olds would all be related!
I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
I wish that the names WOULD be on there. These players work their ***** off...and the walk-ons don't even get their school paid for. At the very least, they need a little bit of recognition for being on the team. Besides, it could be used as a recruiting liability. Why do that to youself?
Is this what's happened to Notre Dame? Shhh, don't tell USC.

Last time I checked it wasn't that big of a liability for USC...
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
Well, I'm guessing a lot more people would enjoy football more if the names were on the jerseys. Just ask marginal female fans.
So the question is: does the "sense of unity" lead to ENOUGH more wins that it overcomes the marginal fans who don't get excited because they can never tell who's who? Just compare to basketball where you actually know what every player looks like (no pads/helmet and close-up TV). Marginal fans develop a bond because they know the player.
Well whatever.
May my postings be polite and not misunderstood. (And hopefully funny on occasion.)
