Football Jerseys

I was wondering if anyone knows if the next years jerseys are going to have the players names on them...or is chizik still going without them?

I don't know, but I'd bet there will not be names on the jerseys. Wouldn't make sense to not have 'em on last year, when there wasn't a logo/uniform change and then put 'em back on this year when the unis are new.

I have no information, but I do have an opinion...

I like the jerseys w/o names, from the standpoint that the individual players are part of something bigger and more important - the team! But that's just how I see it.

It is against NCAA rules to have names on the back of the jersey.

Not on players uni's, but on merchandise, IRRC.

Nevermind, I thought you were talking about buying jerseys in stores. I'm dumb.

Um, no.

It is a violation of NCAA rules to sell jerseys with the names if current players on the back.

But perfectly legal to have the names on the back of the jerseys for the players.

I am for having them on the jerseys. In a sport where everyone is covered with pads and helmets and you can have multiple numbers there is no reason to not have names on the jersey. If you can't drill into your players that you are a team then you have other issues....

Re: Football Jerseys

i would prefer that there were no names on the uniforms. this in my opinion is what gives a team a sense of unity. no names gives them more of a sense of 'family' and that is what chizik is striving for instead of individuality. plus i like the way it looks...and certainly an old school look (a phrase i totally hate using) and a cleaner look.

I heard Chizik say if you want people to know your name make a play and make them buy a program to figure out who you are!

From a visual standpoint, I prefer jerseys without the names.

As for all the other "emotional" reasons, I don't buy into them. I played football for 4 years in high school without names on the back of jerseys and there was no unity on our team.

Doing it is more of just a statement. Which is fine, but don't pretend that it makes a difference.

Re: Football Jerseys

I keep begging my coach to get names on the back of our jerseys but he won't do it cause he says football is a team sport and we should not just be individuals. But I hope isu gets names. Hopefully my coach will change his mind

Thank you for beating Iowa
