It was bound to happen that a home football game, let alone Homecoming against Texas A & M, would be on the same day as the FE Exam. I'm a little perturbed by this new finding. Can anyone explain to me the coincidence of big events being conflicted with by the FE exam? I know the FE exam conflicted with this years and the past Veishea. Never seems to fail. Guess I'll have to take the exam with an ear piece or pray for a night game so I can get back in time. Has anyone else had this problem with anything in their lifetime?

When I took the FE in 2004, it was the day of the Spring Game. I got home from an 8 hour exam and all of my roommates were drunk. I was jealous. And then I was too tired/spent that I didn't go out that night and the Veishea riots happened.
Luckily when I take the PE this fall, it's on a Friday. | | |

I took the FE exam on Veishea last year. Just meant I couldn't party Friday night, or any activities Saturday. But I think I made up for it Saturday night.

Try having the FE the day after your birthday!! At least when I took the FE, we were at Mizzouri last fall.

Screw the FE exam. Many of engineers have gone on and had long successful carrers without a classification from the state board.

I've also been told that w/o the classification/certification, you aren't as liable if you royally mess something up... Of courese, I'm not entirely sure what FE stands for (yeah, I got that one and a half years towards my MIS/TransLog degree in the college of engineering...)

Yep, 11-3-78 when I sat for the exam, we tied OSU 6-6, but I didn't know until I asked someone in the parking lot long after it was over.

At least for CE and ConE.

When I took the FE back in school, it was during Veishea weekend. That really sucked. I took it also despite most people saying, "you don't need to take that". As soon as I got out of the exam, I went on a bender. Anyway, I basically forgot I even took the dang test. I got a job, moved a lot. I never did get results. Fast forward to 2002 when I decided to take the PE exam. Guess what you need as a pre-req?..Yep, the FE. I had to write a letter to get my results and nervously opened the envelope when it finally came. Found out I passed.
For those who are considering not taking the FE, don't do it. The FE is the kind of test you can walk into as a college student and do well. After you have been working for several years and forgotten most of what you learned, you don't want to take a test like that. If you are even remotely thinking you might want your PE, take the FE now. It'll pay off later.

If you are even remotely thinking you might want your PE, take the FE now. It'll pay off later. This is very true. I did not take the FE in college because I was an IE and I had heard that IE's rarely need licensing. Long story short, I ended up working as a Civil Engineer, where most all need licensing. I took the FE exam about 1.5 years after graduating, and it was tough remembering the things that I don't use in my day to day jobs. I took a review course at UW which helped a lot, if for no other reason than to give me a structured schedule of what to review.
My test date was October 22, 2005. Those of you who were not taking an 8-hour exam that day may remember watching ISU demolish aTm 42-14 in College Station. I just had to read about it later, but it was well worth it in the end because ISU won and I passed the exam.

At least for CE and ConE. Oh...Yeah good luck. Have to be able to distinguish one CE from another...
