Rubin the #1 NT in 2008 draft....

Here is a link to a website I stumbled across listing Tuba as the #1 NT in the upcoming draft. Pretty cool for him and ISU, obscure or not. Check it out.Draft Daddy: 2008 NFL Draft: Prospects, Position Rankings, Senior Bowl, Combine

Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

They also have him listed in their mock draft going in the second round to the 49er's. It'd be sweet having a top 40 guy in the draft.Draft Daddy ::: 2008 NFL Draft: Mock Drafts

I could see him going high in the draft as a selling point for recruits coming in. It'd be a good thing to show recruits what they did to him to get him to where he is.

That's the first one I've seen him at #1. The lastest Sporting News I got in the mail yesterday had him at #3 and wherever The Rag is getting their info had a sidebar today that he'll go early on the 2nd day.

Well, since he's listed as an NT (which basically means he's going to a 3-4 team), that limits him to a couple of options.

The following teams run the 3-4 (and their #1 DT per NFL.com):

Baltimore (Kelly Gregg)
Cleveland (Shaun Smith)
Pittsburgh (Casey Hampton)
Miami (switching from 4-3)
New England (Vince Wilfork)
New York Jets (DeWayne Robertson)
San Diego (Jamal Williams)
Dallas (Jay Ratliff)
San Francisco (Aubrayo Franklin)

Honestly, if I had to pick one, I'd say the Dolphins in the 2nd round if he's going to go in the first day. However, that's totally dependent on who they take in the first. We know they're going defense (GM slipped up), if it's Dorsey, no way. If they take Gholston or Long, I could see it with their second 2nd-rounder.

NT does not necessarily mean 3-4. He'd be a better fit on a 3-4, but it's not like Ted Washington never played in a 4-3.

I think you're mistaken. A number of teams run 4-3's with a nose (or under) tackle, which is pretty much the same thing Tuba played for ISU. For example, Pat Williams made the Pro Bowl as a nose in a 4-3 for the Vikings.

I'm only saying because of they way they have it broken up - into 4-3 DT's and 3-4 NT's. It's possible he'll go to a 4-3 team...but Tuba's size is prototypical 3-4 NT, which is why they have him listed there.

As a Cowboys fans, I wish he wasn't getting so much pub. I was hoping he'd stay under the radar and we could pick him up late for some NT depth. Not a huge need since we also have Tank Johnson, but he's not a true NT and I'd love to see a Cyclone on Dallas.
