Re: Season Preview

The way that I read the article, the 5 to seven wins was not a prediction, it was a best case scenario.

Exactly what of value did you see in a piece that had no depth, no real insight, and was slyly slamming Cyclone football across the board--aside from Todd Blythe? Not a great deal of veracity involved. Did the writer even attempt to find one minimaL, balancing, positive morsel? The comment about the Chizik photo was merely inane.

Or, are you guys so masochistic that you enjoy being demeaned needlessly and incessantly?

If that's the "best blog", it appears to me that these blogs must have very little to offer.

I thought it was pretty indepth for a Southern Miss fan. For a guy doing this purely as a hobby, there's quite a bit of legwork involved.

He's not trying to be a news source, and he doesn't have to present analysis, and he can be funny if he so chooses. Plus, I don't think he's making any criticisms that aren't valid.

I think his humor is meant to be quite irreverent, and he's not really concerned with pleasing any fanbase. I don't think we can take ourselves too seriously, and until we see the results on the field, we are going to be a target for people.

Somebody needs a hug.

What was he supposed to say? We're coming off the best 3-9 season in history and we lost almost every one of our statistical leaders and we're going to be competing for the title game this year?

What is he supposed to say? Good grief, the entire article is one big sneer. He could mention that the interception leader returns, that the secondary returns intact, or that the sack leader (Taylor) returns, as do a trio of 100 yard/game rushers. He could mention that a great many redshirts are eagerly awaited, on the line or at tight end; or that a highly touted receiver was signed away from A&M. That a touted running back transferred in from a powerfouse, but won't be eligible right away. None of that is difficult or time consuming, but all that he seemed intent on was bad mouthing ISU.

It's a whole page full of disrespect, and I, for one, think ISU deserves better.

They'll deserve better by proving it on the field. If ISU doesn't want guys teasing us, they need to win. It's not like there aren't those of us who haven't said those things about Baylor or something. I think some ISU fans really need to get some thicker skin. Nobody (including him) care about the redshirts because they didn't play and frankly only a few of them are listed on the spring depth chart, none in starting roles. Unless they really dug in (and assuming he's doing this for at least all BCS conference schools) that would be incredibly time consuming.

It would make no sense to mention Bo Williams as he won't be on the field this year and it's a preview of this year. I could see mentioning Taylor as he was 2nd in the Big 12 in sacks. Singleton was tied for 8th in the Big 12 in interceptions. Both return on the #10 scoring defense in the Big 12 that lost most of it's statistical playmakers and the only first day draft pick on the squad in Rubin.

It's not his job to pump up the clones and if I was reviewing a team in a similar situation as ISU I'd make a similar judgment as he did.

For one, he was actively cheering for us and impressed by our crowd during the Oklahoma game...
