Re: Guess what made the Board of Regents' Agenda?

Lest anyone forget (sorry if this has already been posted), bowling in the south end zone was in Smiths plans before BVD took it off the table. Adding the upper deck is new, but this addition is WAY past due. if Chizik is as good as I think he is, we need the facilities to even have a chance of keeping him around.

Also I love how southernhawk is complaining about ISU making improvements to their athletic programs. Could be a huge mistake...unless it works out of course. Nice argument.

The hoks could win the National Championship this year, unless they lose 5 games. Why would anyone buy tickets? It could be very dissapointing, or it could be great.
I'm not complaining. I could care less. My point is that it's a bold move, and right now, I don't see how it's a positive. Assuming that fans will fill seats because it's a cool new stadium is a bit of a gamble.

IMO, if several years down the road, ISU is winning games and selling out on a regular basis, then it would be basis for expansion.

Why not focus this money on much needed improvements in practice facilities for the other athletic teams?

Re: Guess what made the Board of Regents' Agenda?

Pardon me if this has already been posted.

Do we know what the stadium capcity is after this current construction?

With the current construction the total number of seats must be going down because they are taking out the top 12 to 15 rows of all the lower sections on the west side (roughly 2,000 seats?) and you are not getting 2,000 seats in the suites so it is a net loss of seats. Also the lower bowl will only replace the current hillside and enzone seating so maybe the argument is the upper deck is really needed to actually expand the seating.

Re: Guess what made the Board of Regents' Agenda?

Not sure if this has already been discussed in this thread, as I am just back in town after 8 days out of the country, but I have a hunch that Jamie has a good bit of the $65MM already lined up. He would have some serious egg on his face if this gets passed by the Regents and then it never happens because we can't get the money lined up.

I have no inside information, just a hunch

Mind the gap!

You are wrong. From a revenue standpoint you should always build for your largest crowds (UNI and Nebraska). If that means some empty seats for the iowa game so be it.

I could only stand to read the first 3-4 pages of this...do people not understand we HAVE to do this to survive. What the hells with all this negativity? People are throwing out tickets sales from 4 years ago. Did people forget we shattered our season ticket sales record last year? The options are upgrade or fall back to the MAC...thats not being dramatic its being real. Don't people think that the addition would dramatically help the "big time" feeling in the stadium which in turn would create more buzz and yes more ticket sales.

I know what you mean. I dont get our fanbase half the time. We finally get to have a BCS conference type stadium and people think somehow that is a bad idea.

FYI we are the only school in the Big 12 that isn't bowled in on at least one end. Possibly one of the only in BCS conferences that isn't.

I feel you dude. I remember a thread awhile back about our best won-loss records in history. The downbeat historionics help how? As I said THEN Gene and Jamie are trying to change the culture. I guess some people just don't get it.

I'd prefer to think of things that never were and say, why not?
