The options are upgrade or fall back to the MAC...thats not being dramatic its being real. Don't people think that the addition would dramatically help the "big time" feeling in the stadium which in turn would create more buzz and yes more ticket sales. I'm with you. The end zone project should have been done 8-9 years ago when Gene Smith had 2/3 of the money raised. I doubt this will add that many additional seats (maybe 5K or so). What should happen is that we get rid of all of the hillside seating and get those folks in the endzone. I trust that JP has done his homework on this.
PS. To my way of thinking this goes a long way to helping correct what was a fundamentally flawed design for the middle of Iowa (open ended double-decked stadium).

Hey! It's been 7 hours already! How come nobody has posted a rendering yet! I'm not an artist or an architect, I'm an engineer. Someone else needs to tell me what the stadium will look like, I will tell you how to build it! Hint: make it out of concrete! | This is the sarcasm pirate. If you see him anywhere in my post, it means I was being sarcastic. Thank you. Actually there's a good chance I'm being sarcastic even if I forgot the pirate. I'm not to be taken too seriously.

I have no inside information, just a hunch If this is true it will be a lot easier getting the BB facality sooner than later. If he has to raise the money it will be a bit before the BB facality is built. I think McD is smart enough to know what brings in the money. Lets hope JP and McD are as close and on the same page as they claim they are. It will take a big donar wanting to give the BB program something to get that project started. Maybe this can help get that done.

I really hope this goes through, I am all about it and if the south end zone gets built my butt will thank you. Sitting on the hill is getting old for me, I would love to buy season tickets in the stadium seats; but my budget can not afford it. So in saying that I think the tickets will be reasonable not out of reach and fans will expand and buy the tickets because you are catering to fans who may not make a lot of money who can enjoy big 12 college football at its finest | | |

If you wanted a patio in your yard, but you really needed a privacy fence first. A landscaping company calls and says hey buddy, how is it going? Do you care if we install a 15x30 patio in your back yard and take a few pictures to advertise it. We will do it for free as long as we can show your pictures of the patio and yard in our office and website. Would you say "No thanks? I need to do my privacy fence first, because my neighbors are close and I have a dog.
Nobody really knows whats going on and like I said early..Everyone knows the practice facility needs to be done first, but will be the hardest to get done.
I think jamie will get both and since we are putting 30 million into some places on campus and are getting full rights to Hilton that will stop the bleeding a little bit.
Attendance. I get sick of people talking about attendance the last few years. even the years we had 6-7 wins we were still a paper tiger north team. The whole north sucked and we got Smoked by most of the good teams. This is all approx so correct me if wrong.
We can cram about 56,500 into our stadium.
The grandstand sides hold 42,500.
That leaves 14,000 on the hills and endzone.
Approx 2500 per hill = 10,000
That leaves around 4,000 ish for the south bleachers
So we have 42,500 + 4,000 = 46,500 actual seats.
"If"' he is saying we would have about 57K in the new place then putting in that south endzone would mean putting 11,000 seats in the endzone.
"IF" Jamie said No North Hill Seating then what the heck is the frickin big deal. Our capacity would be the same. We could have the option of getting 63,000, but people are worried about empty seats so problem solved. The only real difference is we would have ourselves a real stadium. Not something that you would find in the MAC. And remember people.....We haven't even been close to good lateley.
I would really like to see some drawings of this...Man that would be cool.

The biggest change is that ISU games will move up to priority one. Concerts, conventions, trade shows, etc., will have to schedule around game dates. The only remaining question is where does an ISU practice fall into the scheduling order, specifically from July 2008 until the BB/VB practice facility is finished? Staffing is big. Just to put the floor in takes... I'm not sure what crew size they aim for but it takes a minimum of two grunt teams of 4 people, plus several bolt wenches, a fork lift driver, manager/assistants... the most basic pee-on is making $7.50 or so an hour, most are making a little more than that... with a crew that size it takes 2-3 hours... and this usually takes place after other events, so sometimes you run into over time.
Not to mention practice does not take priority one, and there is 1 court with 3 or 4 teams that need to practice, 5 that host sports events there (pretty sure gymnastics, wrestling and volleyball don't practice there but similar issues, not that can afford practice facilities, they'd just be riding the basketball coattails but still) and all of those have different setups that require staffing Originally Posted by theshadow With 12 guys on the roster, you can only have two sets of 3-on-3 going at a time -- on the two main baskets. They have a total of 6 hoops set up during practice.
They have 6 hoops yes but it's the ones on the ends of the court, then you have 2 on each side of the court...
And correct me if I'm wrong guys but I thought that there was no one place the basketball team practices? I thought they were at State/Beyer/Forker depending on what is goign on where? And each of those places have their own issues... like dead spots in the floor of State Gym (besides it being left over from a different era all together), besides the issue of always being all over campus

You would think so, but Hilton (and the Iowea State Center in general) isn't the cash cow that it was before the Well opened--and especially as it was when that one group(?) managed it that had all of the hot shows in all the time in the nineties. Thank goodness it got paid off early.

If they go with the same number of rows in the lower deck on most of east side (47) and upper deck (30) across that southern area, it will add at least 50% more seats to the capacity of the east and west grandstands, probably closer to 60-65% since there is such extreme distances from the east and west upper decks. Dependent on the design, this thing could easily surpass 70,000 in capacity, probably more. The outer edge of the upper deck would be just inside of the walkway that connects the east and west sides. Google map the thing.

That would mean 42,500 + 15,000 = 57,500 (i don't know what the suites currently are doing to capacity also)
I guess then you would have 5-6K on the north side bleachers and hills if you wanted to put people on hills for big games.

Anyone see the article in the Des Moines Register: ISU seeks OK to keep planning for stadium | DesMoinesRegister.com | The Des Moines Register "We will be seeking the Regents' approval to simply allow us to continue to explore our options on Jack Trice Stadium," Pollard said. "It's procedural. It's another step toward our destination."
Pollard said a timetable has not been set for completion of the project.
"When you have to raise that kind of money, you can't put a time frame on it," he said. I'm hoping that Pollard already has the donors lined up to move forward with the renovations ASAP, but these quotes do make it sound like this is nothing more than saying, "Hey, we want to look into this. Can we at least do that?"

BVD and McCarney both agreed that an indoor practice facility would help the program and recruiting more than end zone seats. The current video board end zone seats and lights for JTS were all installed at the same time the indoor building was completed, I believe in 2002.

Maybe he really doesn't have a timetable. It's a lot better to say what he says as opposed to saying we'll break ground next summer and then not be able to do it.

Here are some stats for attendance.
In 2006..
Iowa State was at 44/119 at 46,171 (I think it was 50K last year)
Oklahoma State was 56/119 in "PAID" not actual buts in the seats attendance which is always worse. They averaged 40,954.
(They are Increasing their capacity to over 60,000)
Indiana averaged 33,000 a game (planning to bowl their existing 50,000 seat stadium in.
Baylor averaged 37,000 and is going to be spending millions on football.
They are also spending 8 million on a basketball facility.
Texas Tech averaged 50,000 (spent millions and in process of making their stadium bigger/better
Purdue aveaged 55,000
They have spent like 70 million on phase one of their stadium and the next phase puts capacity to 80,000.
I guess with a couple minutes of looking around this project doesnt seem like that big of deal.
