the south end zone seating area, build an upper deck, add premium
seating areas and make other upgrades. So they are going to do both levels of the end zone at once???? SWEET!

I think the point is to ask for more than you think that you might get. If it's all approved, that's awesome. If not, they can still ask for it later.
Frankly, I think that ticket demand supports additional seating--and the sooner it's built, the sooner additional revenue stream is created.
That mentions nothing, of course, about rising building costs...any project would be much more expensive five, ten or fifteen years from now. |

Ticket demand does not support additional seating... there is really no way to argue this. Unless we schedule UNI or Nebraska 6 times a year. |

Most of us, myself included, thought not only did it not make sense - there was little chance that was actually being discussed already.
Well...we showed them!
I still feel demand does not justify this, but, that can change quickly.

I'm just a little bit EXCITED!! |

I mean ticket demand at it's current pricing levels might not support it, but when more seats become available, I wouldn't expect them to be priced the same as the existing seats are. Just look at how popular the south endzone seats are currently. You can't tell me we wouldn't sell a ton more cheap tickets if they were available. I'm not saying you can finance the whole thing with cheap tickets, but it sure wouldn't hurt those sales.
There's more to it than just the number of season tickets and number of tickets overall bought this year. Not to mention expansion of the fan base might generate more demand.

So, 55,000 for the early season games last year doesn't justify the additional seating? It only tailed off when the losing became apparent. As we're talking construction a year or two down the line, I think it's entirely justified--especially considering the talent and experience that will be returning when the addition opens.
Aftyer all, '09 (and '10) for example would mean Austen, Phillip or Jerome; ARob and Bo, Collin and Sed, and a seasoned offensive line. Not even considering the defense, because offensive excitement is what sells tickets--even if defense wins championships.
If you have room to pack in an additional 10,000 per game, what does that mean in terms of ticket sales and concessions, let alone merchandising?
For that matter, the additional revenue generated also might mean that ticket prices don't rise. |

I wouldn't be surprised if they approved it with the condition that Pollard could not restrict ticket sales anymore. The regents love Iowa and I'm sure they received a lot of complaints. |

However, there is absolutely no way any data in our history shows we can justify from a current or prior demand - that we need 2 levels in the endzone. It just does not exist.
And, you're citing just a couple games. Far more often than not, we don't fill the seats we have.
We have the potential to have the demand that requires a 2nd level on the endzone, but that word is just a short way of saying "you haven't done anything yet".
