Credits: 338,765 | Give Chizik credit for self-improvement One of the things I'm most impressed with about Coach Chizik was the fact he brought in coaches from across the country to assess the entire Iowa State football program. Offense, defense etc, all were objectively looked at. He is not saying who there were, for obvious reasons, but you can bet from SEC, Pac 10 and conferences that we don't compete with. He said changes were made based on the recommendations. I really give him credit. Many coaches have too big of an ego to want advice, or think they know it all. Chizik is smart enough to know he can learn from others.
Thoughts on this?

One of ESPN's spring football articles discussed how Pinkel spent a few years learning the spread and bringing in coaches from around the country to improve on it. He credits that to their success at Mizzou last year. |

I had to google GMTA to figure out what it meant. Holy cow, I am only 36 and feel like a fossil sometimes on the web.

Last year Nebraska had a gaggle in to watch one of their practices. It is probably something the big boy programs do.

This is one of the benefits of having a coach like Chizik that has coaching "friends" in many different conferences around the country. They usually help each other out...as long as they are not in direct competition.

Especially since he is such a young coach. P.S. Somtimes there is way too much internet lingo on this site. I swear I have to look up one a day. |
