Future Cyclones in the NFL Draft

Ok, so a comment in the draft thread about not being able to wait until one of our players isn't mentioned as purely a special teams contributor got me thinking. Obviously, I feel we are on the right path towards getting national recogniztion in the football world, and with that comes better recruiting, better talent, and more draft picks.

So, who on the team now, do you think will be Iowa State's highest draft pick?

I'm going with some of the young guys: Bo Williams, Sedrick Johnson, or maybe Leonard Johnson.

Re: Future Cyclones in the NFL Draft

It bothers me...

But I can't think of many NFL players on our roster yet. KO? SJ? BW? LJ?

Those guys aren't even playing yet. Lets all hope.

Re: Future Cyclones in the NFL Draft

Kurtis Taylor could work himself into a 3-4 DE/LB type for next year's draft if he continues to develop. Not a high pick but mid-rounder.

Yeah I agree, I think it's a concern that nobody with returning playing time really jumps out.

If I had to make a guess I would go with Hamilton, Bell or Singleton.

I agree with Singleton and Bell. Singleton just seems to make plays, I know he has had some big plays against him but there have been some great passes that were caught with those too.

Re: Future Cyclones in the NFL Draft

Hopefully some of our secondary guys since that seems to be Chizik's best area (see Texas guys).

Singleton is the only guy next year I see with a real chance of being drafted.

Re: Future Cyclones in the NFL Draft

We have had TONS of impact players at ISU that never went near the NFL Draft. Would I love to see my Cyclones getting drafted? I guess, but am I worried I don't see any future draft picks right now? Nope.

I just wanna win, if we can win consistently without having anybody taken in the NFL draft than I am all for it.

I don't know if that's possible in a BCS Division I conference.

If he has the talent that has been talked about, Haughton.

Re: Future Cyclones in the NFL Draft

Only thing I wonder about Sedrick Johnson is if he will excel in one or the other (FB/BB) or if not putting his eggs into one basket will only make him a better all around athlete.

Singleton has the talent but not the game of an NFL player.
