Dude, come on. We obviously know more about the situation than the coaches do. We're on the internet, after all!

Re: Arnaud vs. Bates...or both?

Maybe we'll end up seeing both of them in the game at the same time, as well as, a bit of a rotation under center.

Re: Arnaud vs. Bates...or both?

I would like to see one or the other be the starter and not see the rotation of two qb's. In my eyes that looks like the coaching staff do not have their minds made up and they should. No if, ands, or butts about it go with one and stick with it to me the offense would click better knowing the true starter. Bates looked impressive at the spring game, but Arnaud looked good too except for a few passes. Good luck to both qb's.

Bates has never thrown a pass in a game. How could they possibly know if he was better than Arnaud or not?

Re: Arnaud vs. Bates...or both?

They put Bates in at QB a few times last year, and every time he looked like a deer in the head lights. That is where Arnaud has a arm up on Bates. There is no way to simulate a game in practice conditions, so they have to rotate the two of them to see how each one reacts. I bet Arnaud starts with a heavy rotation of Bates. I also wouldn't be surprised to see both of them in the same play. If Arnaud and Bates still haven't separated by conference play, the coaches will know more about them and will be able to use the style QB that will give us the best chance to win.

Good optimism but, really? How many Big12 snaps have they taken and what have they done so far? I hope they're high caliber in one of the best conferences.

May my signatures be polite and not misunderstood. (And hopefully funny on occasion.)

I can't say I disagree--but I can't say I agree either. I'd like to hear from someone who played in college on a 2 QB team.

Re: Arnaud vs. Bates...or both?

bates-he can take to the bank on any given play. arnaud will have to stay in the pocket on passing plays and does not possess the speed which bates has.

Can Arnaud play wide receiver?

Meyer better than Flynn? Or coach prefered one over the other?
This is what truly happened.

Anyway, as for the Arnaud vs Bates, I say rotate all year. Though I think Bates will win out. Of course, with my luck, since I'm a Bates fan, he'll lose the starting job just like Flynn....

Passing: 124/273, 1560 yds, 8 TDs
Rushing: 441 yds, 3 TDs
Receiving: 98 Rec, 1106 yds, 3 TDs

Re: Arnaud vs. Bates...or both?

Personally, I really don't care too much anymore. I want the QB back there that's going to give us the best chance to get us the most wins possible. I tend to think as of right now Arnaud is that guy, but if Bates beats him out, more power to him...

All I'm going to say about that argument is just because Arnaud doesn't have the same running skills that Bates has doesn't mean he's going to have to sit in the pocket for every single passing play. To me this is kind of like the Atlanta Falcons 2-3 years ago when Vick was the starter and Schaub was the backup - Schaub certainly didn't have the running gift that Vick had, but to say that Schaub wasn't a mobile QB and couldn't be utilized on roll-outs and/or even some freelance draws when the protection gave in is flat out ridiculous. Just because Arnaud doesn't have Bates' running ability doesn't mean he's not capable of running at all - it just means he can't do it to the degree that Bates does it. And honestly, it's more important to me that the starting QB can throw a great pass, is a great leader and has unshakable trust from his coaching staff and teammates over the ability to outrun a defense if the O-line caves in on a play. And like I said, if Bates happens to exhibit these traits better than Arnaud, then more power to him.

My Roman Villas:
Friley-Godfrey (-66|126)
Helser-Woodrow (-61|122)
Roberts-Harriman (-74|133)
Welch-Ayres (-73|133)

I think we all agree that Flynn was one tough hombre.....
