May my postings be polite and not misunderstood. (And hopefully funny on occasion.)

Bates is too good to stay on the sidelines. Play 'em both.

See Todd Reising and Kerry Meier... Bates will get snaps at qb every game, and he will also be utilized extensively at WR, as he is too good of an athlete to let rot on the sideline, that is of course, if Arnaud wins the battle (which I think he will)

RIP #27 and #2

I'll order up another shot of sin, I'm running twice as hard into the wind, I'll hitch a ride when the next one comes in, fell off the wagon again...

We've only had Spring practice. There's still two-a-days and Fall drills...a very long time for things to sort themselves out.

I agree, I think this would be best for the football team as well. Bates can be used at WR better than Arnaud can in my opinion. The only problem then is, do you want to have your #1 backup at risk of getting hurt playing WR if your third string is a true freshman?

Yeah, and Arnaud got banged up at kNU and had only played a couple of series. I trust Chizik and company to get it organized to best utilize all the talent.

That's an awfully vague statement. There are many different reasons a 2 QB system works or doesn't. A few variables might be:

Are the QB's getting an equal number of reps in all aspects of the offense at every practice? Often, the mobile QB will concentrate on ball control, (running plays, screens, reverses, misdirections, draws, etc.), and the stronger arm concentrates on more down-the-field options.

Is the the staff truly in favor of the QB rotation, or simply doing out of neccessity. If they really want both to succeed, then they will get the same reps at practice, equal time with the QB coach and offensive coordinator and studying film.

In other words, even though they have varied abilities, I don't think it's fair to compare them unless they're prepped in the exact same way. Their talents and strengths may differ, but their teammates remain an unvarying constant.

After watching Arnaud through 5 or 6 picks against Iowa, there is no way he starts. Of course, the game was Miller and Deace on xbox....

All I will say is that in the history of football (for the most part) throughout college and NFL, running back by committeecan work. QB by committee cannot...so when it comes down to it - I don't really care whether Arnaud or Bates...or even someone ELSE is our QB. As long as we win...and we stick with our WINNING QB. whoever that may be.

It is nice to have battle between two good QB's, instead of having one decent QB and a backup that you hope never has to play.
