Arnaud vs. Bates...or both?

Bates brings the run plus the pass and escapeability. I believe he will end up the QB, but who knows. I'd be interested in others take on what we might end up with, or will both play all year?

Maybe we will see a rotation all year long.

Don't care as long as the W's pile up. If the w's don't come then everybody will ask ?s.

I say we play them both until one beats out the other...it happened that way with Flynn and Meyer.

I agree with this as well. Play 'em both and wait for one to emerge.

Re: Arnaud vs. Bates...or both?

Did Bates get any practice time at QB last year? He must be a fast learner. I haven't seen him play yet, but I do remember Seneca.

With 2 QBs, we could be more aggressive and diverse with our offense. There would probably need to be more learning by everyone though.

I'm confident the right choice will be made.

Re: Arnaud vs. Bates...or both?

Using two QB's fails a lot more than it succeeds. Sure you can name specific instances in which it has worked, but for everytime you do, I can name 10 times that it has not.

Coach needs to pick a QB and go with them. If they are struggling, than we have the luxury of having a pretty good backup QB. QB's need to get in a routine and rythym during the game. Either way it should be a very interesting summer/fall seeing who comes out ahead. I still think Arnaud is the leader.

I don't think they intend to use two QB's all year. I think Bates at least deserves the chance to show what he can do on the field. We'll see two QB's at least for a few games and I think we should.

I agree 100%. If they don't get consistent playing time, there's no way you can expect them to consistently produce. They won't be able to establish a rhythm and timing could easily be off.

I think the flaw in this is that many times when it doesn't work, it is because neither one of the guys is really qualified to be the man. I think in our case, both guys are legit high caliber Big 12 QB's.

Re: Arnaud vs. Bates...or both?

The one thing that worries me with Bates is his inability to throw the out. We may see something where they have to divide the field in thirds again, making it hard for big plays... I don't know what the solution to the QB situation is, but I think the coaches will put the right guy in the field at the right times...

Re: Arnaud vs. Bates...or both?

I definitely see us running a different package with Bates in as opposed to Arnaud.

I agree with this, when you have two capable guys with different styles (see Leak and Tebow) it can be very affective. When you have two average guys who are basically the same and your just trying to find out which one is better you fail. (See Flynn, Love, Terry)
