Don't know if anyone else posted this already, but, Bret Meyer has signed a free agent contract with the Washington Redskins.
The free agent i thought the Cowboys should have signed was Jamie Silva, that guy does not have the measureables but he is a heck of a ball player and i think he would be a great replacement for Keith Davis on special teams.
Just my 2 cents....

Who is his qb competition? Their starter has some potential to get better. Bret may be somewhat similar to him.
Sam Keller and Maurice Purify asre still looking for jobs....can you spell Arena Football?
| Let's give a high five for Diante as he leads us into war in the Big 12 conference race next year. Some are recruited for greatness on Johnny Oar FloOR, more are coming. |

Jason Campbell was the starter and got hurt last season, He is probably more poised than Bret, however Bret may end up being a good backup somewhere down the line.

Flame me if you must...but no way does Bret Meyer even make the "practice squad" for an NFL team! After watching him the past two seasons I just don't see him as an asset to a NFL team. Sorry...

Will be a tall order for Bret, but wish him the best of luck. He might be the prototypical CFL QB.

While I somewhat agree with your opinion, you can at least wish him luck. He gave his all to ISU for the last 4 years.

I really liked Bret Meyer at ISU but I just don't see him being a success in the NFL. He got very frazzled when he was under pressure in the Big 12 and lacks accuracy. But who knows? I could see him as a third stringer for a few years.

And if I were him I would jump all over this opportunity! 1 day in the NFL would be a dream come true! I was just stating my opinion about him...I just don't see him sticking around the NFL for long...

Not sure if it was Bret or lack of coaching. He never had the ability to check off or create.

I think alot of you forget some of the shine Bret showed early on, Anyone remember 345 yards and a handful of touchdowns in 2004 against Nebraska, Does anyone remember his independence bowl production? Bret has very good intangibles and he will work hard to become successful at some level. Yes he fell off his last two seasons, but the team did as a whole, and frankly i believe that has alot to do with Bret's performance. a 2006 Go-To Todd Blythe was cold, injured and suffered epstien-barr virus and never really regained his swagger. That Texas A&M game in College Station? Bret Has the potential underneath his skin and ive seen it. Dont discredit the guy for the whole teams downfall in his last two seasons. The guy truely stuck his neck out for ISU football.

Right now they have Jason Campbell, Todd Collins, Sam Hollenbeck (maybe), Colt Brennan and Meyer competing for three spots. I really don't see Bret being able to beat any of those guys out, unfortunately for him.

Todd Collins may retire, which is a good reason for bringing in Meyer
