Agreed, that's dumb. Unless the order came from JP himself, I would disregard it. And you'd know if it came from him personally because he would personally sign the letter in wet ink!

Because there are people out there who would see the YouTube clip and naturally assume it was the official rendering/fly-by when it is not. Then the athletic department would have to answer questions from the media and fans about why it was posted on YouTube instead of on cyclones.com. (Some people are idiots that way.)

The only way to be completely safe is to request that such materials not exist in the public domain.

Man that sucks - it's not like it was being put on-line as an official representation of anything... it was probally doing them a favor, I know I got excited seeing it, and thats not even the one with the upper deck on it.

Wouldn't a disclaimer take care of that? Just don't name ISU in the picture/video and say it was fan-made.

Exactly...They probably would have no problem if the Intro to the video had something that said. This is an unofficial rendering by Jo Blow and is not affiliated an anyway with Iowa State University.
Blah. blah...blah... etc.

Then it would probably be cool I bet. What does Jeremy think about that I wonder. he was the one that must of got the call if he shut the thread down so fast.

Really No brainer Disclaimer should fix any issues with this IMO.

That reminds me of a conversation I had at work today. I'm not going to get into the boring details, but the moral of the story is "you can't live your life second-guessing dumbasses."

I have a thought. If all this excitement can be made from JP simply meeting with the BOR to ask permission to continue planning the JTS expansion. Imagine how much excitement could be made if JP came out with renderings/videos and a time-frame. And as I see it, excitement=more money for the AD.

Making videos/renderings cost $$$, especially since they have it done professionally... I'm sure once they have approval and are preparing to move foward with fund raising or construction they will release renderings like they did last time, but thats not fast enough for us on the message boards I know

Buzz kill? I prefer to think of "What kind of riots or atleast small acts of vandalism await the Regents if they don't say "Yes sir, Mr. Pollard"

I think that there are already some renderings done. Not detailed engineering drawings or videos, but sketches. On CR, it was reported that there was a rendering sitting in the Jacobson Building at some point this spring, then it was removed. So you know that the AD has it...whether it was sketched up by RDG on someone from inside.

I expect that after the BOR meeting today, this rendering is going to come out soon. And we may just hear an announcement about a lead donor.

What would be really awesome is if we received a very large donation for the stadium and then had Hooters girls on the cheering squad. We would not have worry about empty seats.

We could outsource our cheerleading squad and get a few of chicagos finest stip club dancers in the New South Endzone. I would probably change seats for that.

What would be cool is if Jamie said our lead donor is Denny Albaugh at $80 million. Ground breaking for a practice facility and Jack Trice will start as soon as the 08 season is over.

Seriously though...People are saying the lead donor is 10 million? That doesn't seem like much money to be doing this type of project does it. Don't get me wrong its still awesome though.
What kind of money does it take to get naming rights to the Endzone I wonder.
