Re: USA TODAY on ISU

—In addition to the $19.5 million refurbishment currently under way at Jack Trice Stadium, Iowa State plans to spend $65 million for other improvements. That project calls for the expansion of south end-zone seating, an upper deck, more premium seating, as well as other upgrades. Currently, work is concentrated on 24 suites, concession areas and restrooms.

Woohoo! ...and yes, I know there's another thread about it. It's just nice to see that someone outside of the state knows about it already.

Re: USA TODAY on ISU

All in all, a pretty fair assessment, although I don't think I'd agree that the 2007 O-line was a disappointment. Now, the 2006 O-line?

Re: USA TODAY on ISU

Pretty good article although there is nothing there that we didn't already know. It is refreshing to see thoughtful write ups done on the team by national media though.

My only quibble is that the offensive line last year wasn't necessarily a "disappointment". They definitely could have played better, as is always the case, but compared to 2006 they were head and shoulders better than what we expected.

Edit: Nicely done CarolinaCy

Interesting read. At least they aren't getting their hopes up too much.

Yeah, at least they got their facts straight...nothing like "Alvin Bowen Offensive Lineman from Ohio State" or anything like that.

"I love this offense. I want to pound it."

Have you ever loved anything so much that you wanted to pound it? I know I have. Maybe that's too PG-13.

Re: USA TODAY on ISU

That would be nice to see one of our running backs carry the ball 30 times a game. We should be pretty set on running backs in the future. Overall, pretty fair assesment of the team. Now let's just play some football. Seeing all these things on the upcoming season is getting too much, i just want some games!

Re: USA TODAY on ISU

I think this article brings up a valid point of this season. The defense was ranked 7th in the Big 12 (not bad) but was also constantly on the field because of the horrible offense. If our O can move the ball, esp. on the ground, our defense should be at least as good as last season and we will have a chance at the end of most of our games. Which for year two would be about where I think everyone wants us to be.

Re: USA TODAY on ISU

Check the fourth paragraph:

"A 3-8 finish last season"

I think this article's awesome because they nullified a loss somewhere during the season. I like to think they just ignored the Toledo game

Re: USA TODAY on ISU

The offense ran a ton of plays especially against Nebraska and for the season it had more minutes on offense than on defense. Yes, they were short plays, but the clock kept running. I do not think the defense was on the field that long except some games they had to overcome bad field position. The return games was non existent for us.

Is J J Bass still suspended?

I think Chizik's staff magaes the clock well. We just needed for our offense to "click" and "score".

No doubt. The coaching staffs clock management was one of the main reasons the Oklahoma game was as close as it was.
