Ok now that we've recieved approval... time to fan the flames a little (in contrast to my other poll... I think I'm starting to turn into Alaskaguy - nothing to do but post random threads )

I doubt any announcement this next month, however, we might get something latter this year. My guess is that JT will be completed by the 2010 season.

I'm thinking more a long the lines of 2011-2012, depending on funding. Although, I hope I'm wrong and you're right. | | |

I was thinking if they could get it done in one year, which is probably unrealistic. Your probably right about it getting done in 2011.

I find a couple of things interesting along these lines. First, it is interesting that they released rederings with an upper deck since now if it gets done without an upper level it will be a little disappointing to some people. This leads me to believe a major gift has been secured or they feel very good about getting one. (Also have heard reports to this affect but I'll leave that alone) Second, I'll find it interesting to see how and when they make an announcement for a major gift to the project if it does happen. It seems like something that they would want to do at an event and at a time to build as much support and momentum as possible. My best guess is at one of the football games this fall.

I'll say he's close to a lead donor, but it'll be more than a month before we hear about it.

I don't know about construction times, but I would imagine the lower bowl would be done one off season and the upper level the next year.

If Pollard plays this true to form, he'll announce the donor information at the upcoming Tailgate Tour. Too lazy to look up when it starts (but I do know when it is in Omaha), but that is my vote.

If he already has the donation confirmed and secured he should announce it asap.
Depending on the size of it, it could motivate others to donate for the project sooner rather than later. And of course the sooner the fund raising is done the sooner the project can start.
As to how it would get built, it does say in the BoR proposal that it will be a cost savings to do the upper deck at the same time and the lower.
You would not get that savings if the contractors had to pack up and clean up for a year and come back. I would guess it could be completed in a offseason.

I think that this is going to move forward fairly quickly. The reason that JP is taking this to the BOR now is that he has to have all the steps finished by this fall. That way, they can plan to start right after the season.
I thought that there was a possibility of getting the upper deck done in an offseason, but probably not...especially since they are putting the visitors locker room and facilities crew under the new stands. Here's how I see things going:
Nov. 08 - Start JT Phase 2
June 09 - Start BB practice facility
Aug. 09 - Finish east concourse, endzone lower stands, fencing, gates and east suites, leaving south concessions/gate/plaza unfinished so that they have access to upper stands.
Nov. 09 - continue JT Phase 2, finishing all south endzone work.
Aug. 10 - Finish JT and BB practice facility

I am really excited about the future renovations to JTS, but I think Hilton is going to look so sweet after it is done. I think it is in need of a face lift.
