Which was a premise of the thread, anyway.

What do you think, if he were interested, should we welcome in another SEC transfer? Yeah, I know the kid's had troubles, but his dad dies in February, and it seems to me really crappy to yank someone's scholarship right after they lose a parent. Plus, in almost every case, when a troubled player transfers, the rest of their career passes without incident at their new school--not only because they know that they are out of chances, but because being dismissed forces them to grow up. In Perrilloux's case, I can't help but think that the loss of his father, once he works through the grief, will add a new-found maturity as well.
Give me a minute, and if I figure out how, I'll add a poll. This must be opinion??? What is your evidence for this statement.

I guess just because I'm reasonably well read is no reason to force everyone else to be.
If you like, consider all of the transfers to Oklahoma State over the past decade prior to Suttons departure, or the influx of troubled players at UNLV before we played them. The much maligned Wright, for example, behaved himself well enough after transferring to be chosen high by the Browns.

As a tiger fan and a cyclone fan, trust me we do not want this punk anywhere near Ames.
His problems have nothing to do with his father's passing and everything to do with being a thug.
The Hat runs a tight program, but there is plenty of ways to avoid attention in BR, this guy in Ames would make Jason Berryman look like a saint.

Unfortunately, I do not have the time to read all of the posts in this thread. However, I was totally shocked by the vote tally! Most of the time on this site I hear our fan base stating the virtues of "losing with dignity and honor".
Perrilloux has tremendous talent...he would be the most talented QB ISU has ever had if he were to show up in Ames. He has "Heisman Trophy" ability.
Having said that, he is a bad kid...he always has been and it looks like he always will be. He has received multiple "second chances" from LSU and was only kept around for as long as he was because of his tremendous talents on the FB field. He is a cancer...gambling, drugs, fighting, passing counterfeit money, shootings...the list of his "extracurricular activities" goes on and on.
I see no way this would ever happen...Chizik is too by the book and Perrilloux is going somewhere where he can play right away.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

I think the point was that if Chizik looked into the situation and interviewed the kid, that we would trust his judgement. I have no inside information, either into GC's thoughts or the kid's activities, but my point in starting this thread was that if the kid settled down and became a good citizen, he could be an asset to the team.
As well, the loss of his father, compounded by being booted from LSU (his first chance) could trigger such a change.
Frankly, that's all I have to say on the matter. No, it didn't shock me that merely 39% voted in favor.

Oh c'mon. If it walks like a rat, acts like a rat and smells like a rat - it is in fact, a rat.
I would most certainly not be in favor of a kid like Perrilloux showing up in Ames - regardless of talent. Giving a person a second chance is one thing. Giving a person a chance after many off-field issues is a different one entirely.

gambling - used a fake ID to get on a river boat (pretty dumb when you are as recognizable as he was)
drugs - the last straw that got him booted was a fialed drug test
fighting - got into a pretty major fight at Chimes (he says defending his pregnant GF - why take a prego GF to a bar?)
passing counterfeit money - this one may be unfounded but it seems I heard soemthing about him carrying on Bill Condit's tradition
shootings - actually pulling a gun no shots were fired so technically you are correct the shooting thing is not factually correct.
He has punk and trouble written all over him.

Even if he did keep his nose clean off the field, he'd have to get by in the classroom too. This kid has JUCO written all over him.

The concept of "innocent until proven guilty" applies to the rights we have...unfortunately, playing college FB is not a right...rather it is a privilege.
I see a very slim chance that this kid ever settles down and becomes a "good citizen". Lastly, he was given multiple chances at LSU and he kept doing wrong.
