 AMES, Iowa (AP) -- A member of the Iowa State University football staff was arrested after police say he tried to break into a car impound lot and drive his car out through a steel gate.
Floyd Howard White, of Ames, was arrested Friday morning. The 30-year-old was charged with drunken driving and criminal trespassing causing damage of over $200.
Court documents say White was arrested after an officer stopped to talk with him as he was walking along a gravel road near Butch's Towing impound lot. The officer noticed the steel gate blocking the entrance was lying on the ground.
The documents say the officer located White's car and noticed damage to the front end.
White was released without posting bond and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 19.
An ISU roster of coaches for the 2008 season says White is a graduate assistant to the defensive team.

psh, Iowa's staff has dirt all over them, thats why the BOR became suspicious, Id rather have an arrest like a guy running down a gate to get his car back than have a reputation of a half *** scandal

Yeah, one recent incident on our side (maybe a couple other minor ones also), compared to almost 2 dozen incidents on the other side. I'd take the ratio anyday. | |
