I drive by JT almost every day and it is obvious that they are in no hurry with phase I. If you consider that initially JT was constructed in less than 2 years, I could see phase 2 getting done in a year. Even if it takes longer; to even think about making the completion date of Aug 09, they have to begin construction this fall.
I don't know if anyone else has talked about this yet, but CycloneReport had a nice article about JT and the logic behind adding more seats. Any doubters should read it: http://iowastate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=804553.

Not that I'll complain if they start ion the project after the last game this fall.

This would be huge, but who knows what would happen. I really think for some reason it would be easier to complete that south endzone than remodel and create suites in existing areas. You have to deal with lots of demolition, electrical, plumbing, interior design etc. The south endzone is going to be just a bunch of beams and concrete with bleachers on them. Plus bathrooms etc.

Unless this is a union job, I can see them getting it done by 09 if given the green light.

I don't see finishing prior to August 2009 a problem. Ever since the updated request to continue planning was sent to the Board of Regents, I've felt the plan was to begin at the end of the 2008 season -- If Pollard had his way that is...

Bingo. With the continually alternating ice and snow this winter in Ames, they were losing an average of about one full day per week for awhile.

That second level might be tough to finish in one offseason. Especially if they are going to have a visitors locker room and facilities/maintenance crew under those stands. But even if that is the case, they can get the lower bowl done easily between November and August and then finish up after the 2009 season. We'll see, but if JP has the money, expect them to start as soon as the crowd clears out after the final home game this fall.
Gotta remember, this winter was kind of an exception. Most winters don't hang on until mid April. My guess is that we're looking at a two level endzone to start the 2009 season.

If JP gets the cash, they could absolutely do the lower bowl November 2008 to August 2009...the upper level, I have no idea.
Kinnick's new south end zone was done in that amount of time, and that included tearing out the old seating. They also built two sides of the press box that winter, spring and summer, while keeping the old one there...then after the next year, it came down and the entire press box was completed.

Jon, maybe it's time to get Pollard on your show again. I'm sure that he wouldn't disclose donations, but you could just say "If you had the money right now, could the entire plan be finished for 2009?". Also, it would be good to know how season tickets are going and how the current construction is going. I'm sure that people here would be happy to supply more questions for him (please no baseball questions!).

I dont think I have asked him a baseball question.
As for getting him on the show again, I can certainly place a call up there to speak with him about this stuff, but I like to invite him on when there is a lot of fat to chew, to be respectful of his time.
He knows he always has an open invite to come on the show.
