Re: Did ISU get a commit today?

Not to start any **** here but to me it just seems like Iowa and ISU haven't been in competition for any MAC players. Iowa gets who they want out of the MAC, same for ISU. I think if both schools went after a player the eastern Iowa effect would factor into the player's decision.

I agree with you. I'm also in the MAC area, and there just aren't hardly any Cyclone fans there.

But I don't think it's a HUGE deal. With the exception of Bettendorf and Central basketball, the MAC sucks.

I'd agree with that. The fact that we have turned the tide in the football series I think has a lot to do with eastern Iowa players exploring ISU. I do know that Iowa has called the HS coach of one of our current MAC players to see if he was unhappy. Is that legal?

In response to DJK15: I played three other sports, but not football.

What about Tyler nielson and Cody hundtermark. They were both 4* guys. Iowa got them.

As far as the QC area goes, Lichtenberg was an ISU legacy. The MAC schools are pretty much a pipeline for the Hawks.
Too bad all those recruits from the "MAC" schools cannot help the hawks beat a MAC team (Western Michigan).

I went to Bettendorf HS. They have a pretty awesome football program. I sure wish they'd change their colors though.

Re: Did ISU get a commit today?

I guess that answers the question. The new commit is Kyle Lichtenberg of Bettendorf.

Well, at least they described his mom as the ISU standout, rather than his dad. Having a volleyballer for a mom would seem to bode well for how he moves his feet.

Re: Did ISU get a commit today?

Not that it matters but Iowa did offer Ben Barkema a greyshirt scholarship. He turned out to be a much better player than his older brother who went to Iowa.

Yeah, this was one of the cases where turning a TE into an OL didn't quite work out. If CJ had remained a TE I think he would have been a lot more productive and just as good as Ben.

Ben was offered by Iowa late.

I thought he injured his back which pretty much ended his career. I don't think he ever really got started.

He just wasn't big/strong enough to be an OL in the Big Ten, it was never about an injury.
