I like the new uniforms and logo, but prefer the "ISU-I" helmet from the throwback game. Having said that, the new helmet is a great improvement over the old.

I do too, I mean - at least I hope they do. I enjoyed the KU football story last year and they were certainly fun to watch. And I still think KU was the better team in the Big 12 last season, they just "choked" in that first half against Mizzu.

I'm fairly certain the players will be wearing white shoes. I think these uni's have a good balance of old-school and futuristic.

Yeah, I'm still struggling a bit with the helmets as well but hoping that I will have a change in heart once I see the whole package this fall.

I was actually all set to begin the process of applying for a transfer from KU when ...

I met my wife, so that kinda made me stay put!

That would have been about a decade ago.

My story is this:

I joined a fraternity at KU in my third year of college, somewhere along the way I decided to take a roadtrip to visit the nearest chapter, which happened to be at Iowa State.

I had a great time hanging out with those guys, so much that for one semester, I used to leave Lawrence on the weekends to drive up to Ames to party!

that's when I began to consider a transfer, I liked those guys, loved the campus, and was interested in the school programs ...

Sadly, their chapter is no longer there on campus ... but I have lots of good memories and still talk to them regularly.

in fact, one of them was the first to send me a text congratulating me when KU won the NCAA title!

As I mentioned earlier, a very good friend of mine (and KU fraternity Brother) used to date a Cyclone gal ... she also happened to be in the same sorority as my wife at KU.

When he passed away, his family asked me to locate her (I had their common alumnae network) and give her the bad news.

So as you may gather, Iowa State is very significant to me ...

And I hate Iowa simply because they are in the Big Ten!

I agree with the old-school and futuristic combo. I didn't like the helmet at first - I've alwasy been very partial to the Cy logo - but it's growing on me.

And there's nothing too wrong with having a USC type of appearance - IMO.

Minnesota outlines the numbers in white with their new unis, and I personally don't like them. Our's will be nice. And the fact they will resemble USC doesn't matter to me. A lot of uniforms look alike. There are only so many combinations of colors.

I love all the "we look like USC" comments...get over it! We look like 1977-1979 IOWA STATE. It is coincidence that USC looks similar or they stole OUR look. We are just going back to our past and anyone that thinks we are stealing USC's look needs to go find some ISU photos from the past and take a gander or look no further than our throwback game this past year and the mock up for the away uni's this year...they can't get much closer.

I really would have liked to have seen this logo on a Gold/yellow helmet. I really liked the throwbacks we wore last year and that yellow helmet really looked sharp.

Other than that. I am really happy to have gotten away from the all white all red unis. I never did like that look and always thought our red in those days was too close to Nebraska's.

I only hesitate to answer because I use this handle everywhere, and I've talked a lot of smack with Mizzou and K-State (among others)

I liked the yellow helmet, but according to JP, it was overwhelming against yellow by the alumni, plus when they tested the logo on yellow, the state had to be in white, and it washed out badly. State is a mainstay of the logo, and it needs to show up. They did their homework on all of this.
