Re: JTS Phase II

I hate to say it, but i am starting to wonder what the heck is going on? If you look at the web cam, there doesn't appear to have been much work done in the last month or so. At this pace, Phase I will be a stretch to get done by 2009 - let alone Phase II.

I disagree. When you have a big construction project in Iowa that starts in the fall, goes through the winter and spring, and finishes in summer, you're always going to see an exponential increase in how much work gets done the closer they are to finishing. Work is slow during winter and spring because they're still outdoors, putting up walls and digging dirt, etc.- activities often made impossible because of weather. Once they get structures up, then the inside work can begin, and that goes a LOT faster than outside. If you look at the stadium, that's about dead on. The new concession and suite buildings on the west side are almost done structurally; now they're adding finer details and interior work. Plus, they probably won't have to deal with sub-freezing temperatures and torrential downpours every third day.

That is the first thing that came to my mind too, thanks to another CF member's dad.

Re: JTS Phase II

I didn't want to start it's own thread, but can anyone give me a link to the Jack Trice webcam, if it still exists? I looked all over cyclones.com for it, but couldn't find it anywhere. Maybe I'm just blind. Thanks in advance...

WebCam - Jack Trice Stadium - Improvements 2006

Not much going that we can see at the moment. They are primarily doing work inside the buildings.

ISU timeline accidentally released | GazetteOnline.com - Cedar Rapids, Iowa City

looks like someone let the cat out of the bag.

I wonder if it was actually a mistake or if there is more to the story

Re: JTS Phase II

At this point, I think the wheels are spinning because we have something lined up.

Where there is smoke, there is fire.

I'll be surprised if Phase II, including the upper deck, isn't under construction later this year.

His generous $1.25 Billion contribution to ISU athletics has changed the way we compete.

We now have a state of the art Football stadium.
He put in the worlds biggest Screen which is 20 feet Wider than Texas's HD Video screen.
The olypmic sports now have their own indoor areana.

Facilities will now be called Jack Trice Stadium and Hilton Coliseum at the Sheikh Mohammed Athletic Complex.

Sheikh Mohammed was quoted in the DM Register "I love the people of Ames. I am excited about Cyclone Athletics and direction they are moving."
So apparently my Middle East thing fell through if they don't have a donor yet?

Yeah, it sure sounds like these rumors we've been hearing about a major donor might be just that.

Re: JTS Phase II

The article didn't say we don't have a major donor yet. All it said is there have been no new major donations since the announcement.

Me, too. It's been way too long since I've seen even video from the best place on earth....
