you talk like its bad to have "options" .... personally i wouldn't mind isu to bust out "gold" uni's whenever they proclaim it "golden rules" weekend .... just a thought ....

Overall: LOVE THEM. Would like to see a non-gray facemask though. They only colors I would like to see on the entire jerseys/helmets is cardinal, gold and white. Thank god the blue is gone, and naysayers about the new logo: how much better and collegiate does it look on our helmets than the whirlybird/punching Cy? I liked our last logo a lot, but I think this one fits better, is less busy, and is less confusing about who we are . Plus - now that, along with the walking Cy and others, is OLD SCHOOL.

I think we're gonna look good in more way that one this year. Can't wait.

I don't mind options, its the diamond plate on the knees and shoulder pads that make me scratch my head......

i remember they saying what they represented on espn's segment a couple years back but i cant remember now .... o well ....

I actually think the grey facemask is a big improvement....we've tried different combinations before like white and blue, and I never liked the look of those. It seems like such a small detail, but I think the grey facemask goes a long way in making our uni's look less busy.

I dont like them as much as the throwbacks, the old gold pants and the outlining was far better on the throwbacks. they need some gold on the cuffs of the jerseys aswell. but it will be good for a change

Yep - seems to me that USC stole our look from the 1970s with their 1968 football uniform. What happened? Did they have a time machine and decide, "Hey, what is the most obscure D-I university a decade from now that we can steal a uniform design from? Oh, hey. Iowa State's colors are similar to ours, and their 1977 uniform design is just flat out hot. I think we'll use that design for our 1968 design..."

I also like the grey much better then the white. If memory serves my correct we switched to white facemasks in 2003 and didn't do so hot. Maybe that is why I never liked the white facemask that we had.

We were never that good in the black facemask, either.

I suppose gray is neutral enough to make the new colors and logo stand out on the uniforms and helmets. I'm not sold on these helmets yet, though. Oh well.

The "Cyclone" font is one of the best things that came out of this uniform endeavor. I love it!

What color was ISU's uniform in the 1960s? I can only find pictures of ISU's helmets, which were solid gold in the early 60s and then cardinal was introduced as a color in 1967. I guess what I'm saying is that it is still possible that ISU started using cardinal and gold uniforms before USC did.

In any case, I think its silly for anyone to say that ISU is copying USC's look when ISU's new look is very similar to ISU's old (1977) look.

It's silly for anyone to think we're stealing the USC look and it's silly for anyone to think USC stole our look. There are only so many color and stripe combinations and similarities are bound to happen. USC has had their colors and uniforms since the 60s and probably earlier than that, ISU is going back to their 70s look. Not stealing from USC.
