I love the new look, Ever since I arrived at ISU I hated the Blue. THANK GOD it's gone!!!

As much as I hate to say it…….USC had Cardinal and Gold four years before we did…….

Iowa State’s school colors have been listed as cardinal and gold since 1899 when the Athletics Council noted that a “striking set of new colors” to represent the sports teams was going to replace the institution’s original color scheme (set in 1891) of gold, silver and black. Over time, many shades of cardinal and gold have appeared on team uniforms.

Colors
Cardinal and Gold. Before 1895, USC’s official color was gold. At that time the College of Liberal Arts had its own color - cardinal. In 1895, both colors were adopted as USC’s official colors.

If these look anything like USC... these will look great on TV. Night games especially.

This may have already been discussed/answered, but does anyone know when these new jersey's will be available for purchase and out in the retail stores?

I wonder if we would ever wear red jerseys and red pants together. Maybe for a Cardinal rules game?

I like the gold pants for Away games instead of the Red ones too.

I don't mind the red but I prefer the gold to be honest. Hopefully we'll see them surface from time to time this season.

Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

I like the home uniforms best. I love the cardinal jersey and gold pants. Awesome. Unlike many here, I have absolutely NO COMPLAINTS. I guess there is no satisfying everybody.

I never realized that Fashion and Design was that popular of a major at ISU. I was Transportation and Logistics. I wonder how they shipped the uniforms?

This website is doing some research into official school colors:

College football tradition - official school colors

Someone needs to correct him on ISU's colors. If he's right on the other schools, then ISU and USC are indeed the only DI schools that list cardinal and gold as their official colors.

Other schools of note:

Minnesota has been using maroon and gold in some fashion since the 1880.
Arizona State has been using maroon and gold on its football uniforms since 1898.
Florida State has been using garnet and gold on its football uniforms since 1947.
