UNLV game on TV

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but it looks like the UNLV game will be broadcast on DirecTV by the MTN network. DirecTV will start broadcasting this network on Sept. 1.

awesome. I wish they would make a big 12 network

Thank you Wes Johnson for the great 2 years you gave Iowa State. Wish you could've stayed. Best of luck to you, wherever you end up.

"The one thing I really want to say is to tell the fans thank you for everything," Johnson said. "You rooted for me, you were behind me with my injury, and I really appreciated that."

I don't, I think the Big 10 network was a major disappointment in their 1st year and being they are lacking in sponsors and advertisers I am curious how long they can keep it going. The Big 12 just needs to get a better deal the the major networks because even with the Big 10 Network there were still plenty Big 10 games on the major networks.

Just gather up some friends and head to a bar. No need to switch to satellite.

I personally like the Big 10 channel. I find myself watching it quite often.

I would love for the Big 12 to put together something like that.

The B10N will not go under, even though I am certain that they are losing money faster than the Denver Mint can print it. They are backed by Fox, I believe.

I think the Big 12 will eventually do the same thing as the Big 10, only they'll do it better because they'll have learned from the Big 10 Network's mistakes.

Re: UNLV game on TV

That's a sweet deal for fans when there are nonconference games like this. Without a dedicated MWC network, there's no chance this game would have been on TV. I think the Big 12, and most other conferences, will have their own network in the next 3-5 years. If it's done right it can make money and also give more exposure both locally and nationally for all the teams in the conference.

You should just be there, it's going to be a road trip. There are about 20 in our group, can't wait

Mind the gap!

Re: UNLV game on TV

Someday they will figure out the right way to do PPV for all the football and basketball games. There should be a network that will cover every single team in the country, that way one company(NCAA maybe) will make money off all the teams, not just the top 25. Otherwise it wont be any better than it is now.

Then you buy the Iowa State package, and even though it wont make as much money as the USC or Michigan package, it all goes into one main pot of money for them.

But this wont happen til they work out broadcasting rights, which the NCAA should own anyway, and could do with what they want.

I plan to be there but if it's on tv, I will tivo it also. That way if there's a play or drive I want to see again, or if I just want to re-watch the victory and see how the UNLV stadium looks in cardinal and gold, I can watch it later.
