Re: texas recruiting

You mean the way they already have a 5-star recruit plus ten 4-star recruits compared to our one unranked guy? Even with that start, they're trailing USC who has four 5-stars and seven 4-stars already committed. Like was posted, it's like that every year.

Iowa Hawkeye All-Stars, 2007-2008: Ryan Bain, Ricky Stanzi, Dana Brown, Tyler Gerstandt, Arvell Nelson, Bradley Fletcher, Dana Brown (x2), Ben Evans, Arvell Nelson (x2), Dominique Douglas, Anthony Bowman, Clint Huntrods, Lance Tillison, Dana Brown (x3), Dominique Douglas (x2), Brandon Myers, Ryan Donahue, Arvell Nelson (x3), James Cleveland, Cody Hundertmark, Cedric Everson, Abe Satterfield, Riley Reiff welcome to the club, who will be next???

USC's recruiting class is going to go down as one of the all time greats

Let's hope Gene rubbed off some of the recruiting ability from Mack Brown.

Oddly enough, some Texas fans think that Mack should do a better job of bringing talent in.

2008- 14th
2007- 5th
2006- 5th
2005- 20th

Doesn't seem like they should complain about much to me

It's not the recruiting classes at all actually - they get angry that he doesn't win more with such highly rated classes year after year. Only two BCS appearances, both with a certain QB at the helm, and only one Big XII championship...

I am jumping off a cliff after cancelling my season tickets. This is terrible news.

Re: texas recruiting

Think of the worst coach ISU has ever had and put him at Texas. I bet he would be at least marginally successful simply because those stud Texas kids want to play for Texas and with all that talent, you have to really work at it to go wrong. On the other hand, it's really hard to get kids to want to play in Ames, regardless of how good the coach is. They are not falling all over themselves to come play for Chizik. He's going to have to excell with marginal talent and then, maybe, a few top talent guys will exercise good judgement and come to Ames to benefit from his coaching.

Jim Walden at Texas? That would be awesome!

Re: texas recruiting

I was thinking more of Donnie Duncan. Jim Walden did pretty well at WSU.

I was thinking Duncan or Criner myself. I think Walden didn't know what he was getting into and was left with a bare cupboard.

From wikipedia on Jim Criner:

In 2008 he accepted the position of head football coach at Marist High School in Eugene, Oregon.
Wow, they are in trouble. At least he won't have to deal with the NCAA on rules violations, although some school boards might be about as bad.
