Re: Does Jon Miller hate/fear the Cyclones?

I like Jon. He seems like a great guy. But it annoys me when he tries to make our fanbase sound 100 times more annoying and arrogant as hawk fans. Sure, we have a few koolaide guzzelers on here and CR that would get under any hawk fans skin, but Jon, there are MANY MANY more hawk fans as I just described.

Part of it because there are many more hawk fans in the state. The other part I can not explain. In all sincerity, I have never met a Cyclone fan that could not name a single athlete in any sport and still talk smack. The Iowa fanbase seems to be flooded with those types of people. It is a mystery to me?

I have never taken Jon's rants against ISU seriously. While not as hilarious as Marty and Miller....he is humerous on occassion. Appears to be a pretty cool guy.

If he grew out his hair....he would be a dead-ringer for Will Ferrell.

Like a lot of media people Jon does not care if your like or dislike him as long as you talk about him or listen to him. What irritates me is when he acts like he cares about ISU athletics or pretends that he is happy when they are successful. I would bet his personal preference is that ISU remain firmly in the "little brother" role. I would rather have someone tell me upfront that they dislike me rather than be phoney about it. Jon is a big phoney. IMHO

Jon did get more attention about that show than all the others. It worked.

Why why why another thread about him? Give it up people. And save your comments about "don't click on this thread" bs.

I just don't understand why this bothers everyone so much. There is no law that says the Cyclones must be talked about for 2 hours on sports radio everyday. Any radio host, Jon aside is going to talk about what's interesting at the time and what will sell to his listeners. If the Cyclones start putting together some legitimate seasons, there will be more interest in the school and therefore will be talked about more.

Stop the insecurities already.

He may be a "homer" (Deace was and spoiled us, I miss those days), but he also spent 20 minutes kinda dismissing Phil Steels Hawkeye group ratings.

For instance Phil Steel said Iowa has the 3rd best receiving corp in the Big 10....WHAT!!! There was more, but this was ludicrous, I also think he ranked their qb position highly also, things that make you go hmmm.

Such as this? (yeah, it's true - word for word, typed by him on CN)

I too am glad Deace actually had "something" to say!

Can we all get a grip here people? I mean seriously. Why in God's name of all that is Holy do we need 10 Jon Miller threads a freakin day? Is he really THAT compelling?

I am extremely disappointed in all the people on this board who call themselves Cyclone fans and still feel the need to rant and rave over a Hawk Homer radio guy.

Give me a break, give it a rest. AMEN.

I realize that the majority of the Cyclone's fan base is students and alumni, (hope I spelled that right, I'm no college graduate), but to berate and stereotype people you've never met because they didn't choose to, or have the opportunity to, attend the institution of higher education that they support is ridiculous.

Great post!

It made me think of one of my favorite jokes:
What's the difference between a Cyclone fan and a Hawk fan?
Neither one went to the University of Iowa!!!

Jon has followed WHO and Ketih Murphys lead, reporting message board propaganda as NEWS.

I firmly believe there are a few....not a lot...but a few...Cyclone fans that are happier when Iowa is losing and/or when they can rail on Hawks than when the Cyclones are doing well.

Seriously. (FTR, I don't believe any of those individuals have posted in this thread, yet)

And it's rather sad.

Re: Does Jon Miller hate/fear the Cyclones?

I would just like to thank each of your for your involvement in these threads over the past week. Thursday is the two year anniversary of the radio show, and also the time when I go meet with my boss and talk about a raise.

I will be printing out the 40+ pages of Jon Miller threads you all have been kind enough to post, add to and build up, as that likely means employment for a long time to come.

Thanks again!
