How patient will you be?

It takes time to rebuild a program. Actually, a 5-6 win season this year would be a major step for Coach Chizik in my view. And a couple of years after to get to a bowl game. Just wondered how patient everyone can be to eventually get a winner? I just want to see exciting games and progress...

I will be very patient. I can see Chizik has what it takes to make a winner. A football program is much different then a basketball program. One - Two year turnarounds do not happen in Div 1 football.

I was at ISU during the Jim Criner years.
I can be patient.

If Chizik can get more wins than Criner had violations he will be a success.

I'm patient. My concern is that the fairweather fans' green money will dry up if winning doesn't happen soon.

I would be happy with five wins this season as long as we compete every weekend. It would be good to see us with a chance to upset a game or two. I can wait another two years for them to go bowling.

Please define this word patient.....I don't think I have ever seen it on this board before....

What do Cyclone fans and Hawkeye fans have in common?
Neither one ever attended the University of Iowa.

Re: How patient will you be?

I will be patient, but we shouldve had 5 wins last year. We SHOULD have won against Kent ST and really blew it at Toledo. So I dont think we can judge our improvement on wins alone, it'll be how we play in wins and loses.

We cant give up however many points in the last 10 minutes like we did against Toledo.

We cant get schelacked outta the gate like we did against Texas.

I could try to go on, but i want to forget about those cause a lot of them came from our coaches and players learning on the job, and I think they are all a lot older and wiser this year. Cut down on mistakes, we win more.

I remember one of the violations involved Tracy Henderson. I didn't realize that Criner was charged with 44 of them

I'm gonna sound like a broken record for the next few months but...realistic expectations should be 4-5 wins this year. If we could get to 4-5 wins this year and then have a more break out type year next year with 7-8 wins and a decent bowl. I think that is the best case scenario.

Re: How patient will you be?

As long as we are improving considerably I would be content. But I think I would be fairly patient for the next couple years to see what happens.

I am looking for us to be more competitive this season, keeping lots of games close this year in games that are close to 50/50. And remaining respectable in the 25/75 games (against teams like Texas, OU, Kansas, Mizzou).

Next year I hope we are winning those close games and those 25/75 games are more closer to 35/65. Just that kind of improvement.

I'm very patient with Chizik because I believe in him 100 percent. McDermott has become another story but I'm still behind that guy.

Re: How patient will you be?

It is interesting that everyone is saying that they are patient. (as long as we win now)
If we win 5 games this year, 7 next, that is the schedule we should be on. No patience required.
Will people have patience if we win 2-3 games the next two years? I sure don't think so. Patience is sticking with the coach after they have failed to meet expectations. (see Gary Pinkel and Mark "the man eater" Mangino.)
I don't feel you can be patient with a coach until some are calling for his head.
That being said, I think I will be patient with Chizik, but the patient will be an overwhelming minority on this board.
