Well, except for them heavy, glossy pages.
Anywho, I think they have ISU ranked about right. Iowa, even with that easy sched. I think they're overrated.

If we've learned nothing from years past, NEVER predict based on possible strength of schedule.

Iowa vs. ISU in the national championship baby! YEAH!
That's my pre-season prediction. Who wants to subscribe to my publication?

I'm an Iowa State fan...the lower I State is picked preseason, the better. I'd much rather have teams look as us like a patsy until be beat them, then be looking for us.

I don't know how they would measure something like that, but it's probably not too far off. Hopefully, that is more a reflection of Shepp's training and Chizik's philosophy of rotating players in and out on defense than just pure luck.

As far as our prediction goes, it's probably not far from the truth, although it's a truth I'm getting tired of hearing (hopefully for not too much longer). As far as Iowa's prediction, if you think that one is bad, well, wait until Mark May and College Gameday get around to doing their preseason special... |

Did you see their game by game predictions for us. Basically the only big 12 game they said we "could" win was Baylor. I used to think that they were a pretty great magazine but it started to dawn on me that there is no way the writers there could get very indepth with over 100 teams to cover. I think they look at very basic things when they make predictions.

In my book, 5 wins this year is equal to last year because I'm giving us a bye on Kent State and UNI. We got 2 conference wins last year. We lost some people--we gained some people. 2 conference wins this year would be . . . the same. No improvement. So 3 non-conference wins is . . . what? Technically it's better than 1, sure--but I'm not going to buy into that. Last year's team that won 2 conference games would not have lost those 2 non-conference games.
So last year we improved dramatically over the season. Realistically, I think 5 wins this year is equal to last year's team at the end of the season. Sure that means I'm hoping for 6 wins this year. I'm not going on a witch hunt if we don't get it--I'm just saying that I don't believe 5 wins is any REAL improvement over the END of last season.

May my signatures be polite and not misunderstood. (And hopefully funny on occasion.)
