Re: What would you wager???

I'd expect to beat Nebraska this year.

Beating Mizzou though... maybe my left kidney. John Locke would be proud.

Deep within the heart of Iowa, a storm is brewing...
... the winds of change ripple throughout the vast fields of corn surrounding the small college town of Ames.

The Gene Chizik era of football continues, and, with it, a renewed attitude of pride, determination, and success.

This is Cyclone Football.

Beating Nebraska does far, far more for us than beating Iowa (again). The Big 12 is much more important than an instate, out-of-conference rivalry.

Right now, however, I'm most concerned about beating South Dakota State.

I would rather beat Iowa for my own self satisfaction; however, I know it is better for Iowa State to beat conference opponets. Look at 2005, we would of benifited more with an Iowa loss and a Baylor win...

My point is, let's focus on the Big XII. Nebraska is by far a better win for us. That said, it does rock when we beat iowa.

Don't let the green grass fool you. Don't let it change your mind.

Yes, we would have. Compare the fan turnout in the game against Iowa and the game against Baylor that year. That Iowa game in 2005 was one of the most enthusiastic, intense environments I've ever seen for a Cyclone game. The home crowd against Baylor was terrible, no enthusiasm whatsoever.

Our fans are very passionate about the Iowa game, and rightfully so. But it's been done. Let's move on. Beating Iowa does not do much for where we want to go. Chizik was hired because we want to win in the Big 12. If we only wanted to beat Iowa all the time, then why did we ask McCarney to leave? We have so much more to gain by beating Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas than we do Iowa. It's about time our entire fanbase understands that.
