CBS Dennis Dodd "ISU can't do better than Mac's success"

Article is about top defensive line coaches in the country. Glad they list Mac and I love what he did for us, but wanted reaction on this comment. I don't buy it: Dan McCarney, Florida: As a head coach, McCarney did at Iowa State what no other coach is likely to do in the near future -- get the Cyclones to five bowls in 12 years. Sorry, Iowa State fans, it just doesn't get better than that in Ames. Garner's Georgia Junkyard Dawgs' bark match their bite - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com Live Scores, Standings, Stats

Has the University ever put this many resources into football as it is now? Just because it's never happened before doesn't mean it won't or it can't.

I wonder what Chizik thinks about that. Most probably, he has identified it as the load of poopy that it is...

I guess you can look at it this way, if you are a pessimist; after this year, Chizik will have 10 years to get ISU into 5 bowl games. I think that is possible.

I always look at Kansas State. Before Snyder got there, they were a perennial bottom-feeder, and look what he did there. I don't think they've really got anything in Manhattan that we don't in Ames. If they can do it, so can we.

This is some locker room material right there. Put that stuff on the walls in the locker room and weight room, and there is nothing else that fires guys up more than people who don't think they can do it.

Obviously, this guy knows what he's talking about. This is why McCarney is now working as a head coach at a prestigious SEC school. If Dan can't get it done here, no one can.

I sincerely hate people like this. If we can't get it done here, might as well call up Lincoln, Iowa City, Manhattan, and Lawrence because there just isn't any hope for cold, desolate midwest football programs. Seriously, keep putting us down like this, and the chip on our shoulder just keeps getting larger and larger...

The cold, arctic winds have descended upon Ames, Iowa. With winter's arrival, one season ends...
.... so that another can begin.

From within the concrete walls of Hilton Coliseum, a ceremony takes place where
a synergy between its players, fans, and coaches inspires greatness... success...

... Magic.

Glad I see many others with the same optimistic outlook as me. I also instantly thought of many of the things mentioned here: KState, more resources with Pollard, young highly regarded coach. I thank Mac, but things can get much better.

Whoa - Coach Mac had a little worse situation coming in, with Walden driving our program into the ground, than what Chizik had.

I think this 'sports writer' is really professing what he hopes will be the case, because if it's not, then he'd have to write stories about the prestigious ISU tradition and he might have to make a few treks up to Ames in the cold weather someday to do some reporting, and any team outside of the right or left coast just can't complete. What a bunch of B.S.

This is like retards that got leveled by Katrina. "but but but - it's never been that bad in my families 50 some odd years here, so of course we didn't leave".

News flash for the country. In the next couple of years when you see a Cyclone coming at you in the form of a cardinal and gold cloud - if you don't think it will do damage fine.... you'll just look that more retarded yourself when we plow you down! Kick your *$&# and comeback hungry for more!

Dodd is THE guy who picked ISU last in MBB in a pre season magazinein 1999-2000. He is like us and nothing more (other than he has a pen and a paper who will publish him)

I believe he is a Mizzou fan (I could be wrong)

He has no credibility and projects teams worse than my mother does.

Oh, goes with the territory... He has some valid points if you take off your Cyclone colored glasses.

It's up to Coach Chizik and the rest of us to prove him wrong.

I have a feeling Chizik is hiding in Dennis Dodd's closet as we speak...

The boogey man and Chuck Norris can rest easy for awhile.

This is the sarcasm pirate. If you see him anywhere in my post, it means I was being sarcastic. Thank you. Actually there's a good chance I'm being sarcastic even if I forgot the pirate. I'm not to be taken too seriously.
