ISU vs Northwestern
I was thinking today, trying to compare our football program vs theirs in the last 10-15 years. I would have to give us a recent edge with 5 bowl games, although they have made the Rose Bowl in the 90's and won the big 10 sometime?
I think it would be fun watching our D trying to stop them and their D taking on our Oline this year.
What do you guys think? ISU better program last 10 years or Northwestern?

I'd say Northwestern. but remember, that's where our nickname comes from! Would be an interesting match up this year.

Re: ISU vs Northwestern
You certainly picked a good comparison.
Record over the last 10 years:
ISU 55-76, 2-3 bowl games
Northwestern 55-76, 0-3 bowl games

I would love to get a September series started with them. Cubs one day.. Clones the next.

Finished 1st or tied for 1st in the Big 10 3 Times Well, if we're only counting the last 10 seasons, then you have to leave off the Rose and Citrus. They lost the other 3, including an absolute throttling at the hands of Nebraska in the Alamo (66-10?). All in all, I'd say the two teams are pretty close.

id say northwestern...at least theyve been to "big time" bowls

Re: ISU vs Northwestern
Northwestern has a conference championship in that time... I'm sorry but this is a no brainer.

Re: ISU vs Northwestern
Depends on if you go back 10 years or 15 years. 10 years, we compare favorably. 15 years, Northwestern, hands down.

Yes, but it's a conference championship in the Big 10, which, for the last 10 years, has been down. Not to mention they don't play a conference championship game. It's really not fair to compare conference championships to conference championships over that timeframe. We've come damn close to a conference championship twice in the last 10 years. Originally Posted by cyclonepower id say northwestern...at least theyve been to "big time" bowls But they've been to those bowls because they are tie-in bowls for the conference, not necessarily due to them deserving them. Alamo, Motor City and Sun bowl compare quite well to the bowls that ISU has gone to in the last 10 years.
10 years is a bit more interesting a comparison than 15 years. I think ISU has it if you look back 10 years, and NW has the edge if you look back 15.

We haven't even won the Big 12 North, which means we haven't played in the Conference Championship Game, which then means we haven't been competitive in the Championship game.
Damn Close to a Conference Championship would be a nail biter in the Championship game in my opinion.
The years we were close to winning the North, where would we have been in the South? Probably not close to the top.
