I think a bowl game win would be awesome.

That is the beauty of it for either qb. There are no expectations. No expectations = No pressure. Bret Meyer had all the pressure in the world on his shoulders and it showed because people expected more out of him because they saw what he was capable of. Nobody knows what the new guys are capable of, as we have only gotten a small taste. Couldn't be a better situation for breaking in a new qb.

Whatever happens let's not go "bush league" and boo our own players. We are better then that. Those other fans shall remain nameless (Black and Gold wearing morons)

How many games are we supposed to win (from strictly on-paper)?

Maybe 3. Unless a lot of teams stumble early, I don't think we will be favored in a single conference game. Leads to a lot of upsets to even get to bowl eligibility. But it has happened before, and we will play above outsiders' perceptions again most likely.

6 wins would be successful, 5 would be OK. Also, it would be nice to beat either Kansas or Missouri and win a road Big 12 game.

If you look at our recent history when switching from the tough schedule against the Big 12 South, to the weaker schedule against the south, there's a big difference in our number of wins than the year before. Hopefully we can continue that trend this year.

1999 (OU, Texas, @Tech): 4-8
2000 (@OSU, A&M, @Baylor): 9-3
Win diff: +5 wins

2003 (OU, Texas, @Tech): 2-10
2004 (@OSU, A&M, @Baylor): 7-5
Win diff: +5 wins

2007 (OU, Texas, @Tech): 3-9
2008 (@OSU, A&M, @Baylor): ?-?
Win diff: +? wins

Defentily at least +5 wins again.

Both 2000 and 2004 included bowl wins. I'd take the +4 regular season, however!

Following this pattern, 8-5 with a bowl win would be great. I really believe the key is 4-0 start. A 5-0 start would get us ranked nationally. Really successful to me is 4-0 non-conf. and beating Neb, KSU (my brother is a KSU alum.), Bal, Ta&m. I think we need to beat a Texas school for recruiting reasons. Anything more is icing on the success cake.

I agree with all that have said 4-5 wins is acceptable, but I also agree that 6 wins and a bowl game would be "successful"

I also must add that a win over the bugeaters would make me very happy ... yes, I have learned to HATE them in less than a year just as everyone predicted.

How about being a bit realistic people? How about being happy with a team that shows up every game and plays hard and smart? Let the wins and losses take care of themselves. No one knows how the talent level of this team compares to the opponents. I would not care to be the individual that tells the players what games they cannot win. I want the players going into every game feeling like they will win if they play their best.

Set the goals high and keep the appetite strong. I am not saying we won't win every game, I just listed the one's I really would like to win.
