Re: Anyone in Ames get their FB seat assignment letter today?

I sat in lower level 1 year and hated it. Couldn't see a darn thing half the time and had to rely on the scoreboard TV alot. I used to get sideline passes too and never liked those....again...very hard to see what is going on unless the line of scrimmage is right in front of you.

I like the balcony because you can really see the plays develop. See the line open holes and see receivers that may be running free.

IMO, best seats in the stadium are 50yd line, first row balcony.

That's just me.

Completely agree, unless there's a monster railing in front of you. If there isn't however, you have a view of the entire field and its unobstructed.

We got ours and they didnt change. We had to double our donation to stay and asked for better seats if available. We like our seats so its not a big deal, and there isnt a lot of room to move up in front of us without sitting with the faculty.

Maybe the mail is slow. I live in Ames, and haven't gotten mine, even though our mailman has been by.

Unless it were by donation level, because we're ticket-only people right now.

I know we should be good by our endzone, but what about looking to the north the other 75 or so yards??
thanks!
This won't help you but I sat in the first row on the 50 at the Houston Bowl and it was great, except for the reserve football player that was constantly trying to pump the crowd. I don't mind that, but he stood in the same darn spot all game. If he would have just moved around 4 or 5 yards it wouldn't have been so monotonous.

I also had 2nd row 50 yard line seats at a Chiefs-Chargers game at Arrowhead. They were great. The Chiefs played a horrible first half and they enter the locker room at the 50 right in front of us. They all had their heads hung in shame. Then they came out in the 2nd half, rallied to put the game in OT and won it. Those seats were great.

I had 1st row seats another time at the Florida State game in Arrowhead. These were in the endzone opposite the Seneca controversial non-TD. Great seats again. I don't think you can go too far wrong with seats close to the field. The perspective isn't always the best, but you see and hear things that you can't get from the upper deck.

I've always said that 50 yard line seats aren't what they are cracked up to be. People closer to the endzone have a better seat 50% of the time. Nobody ever scores a touchdown in the middle of the field.

"Gold" Section 6 - Row 6

I havn't gotten my letter yet but I did call the ticket office last week and they gave me my seat locations.

Sec 6 -- Row 6

My annual donation this year was at the "Gold" level and I'm satisfied with being down close to the field. However, it seems strange that they put me in a section that is designated for Faculty/Staff. I know it's impossible to see some plays through the visiting team's bench but I usually end up watching the replays on the big screen anyways. Who knows.... maybe they'll be able to replace and increase the size of the "jumbo-screen" with JTS Phase II.

This will be my fourth different location for season tickets in the last four years (Secs 4-5-8-now 6). I have found that it's the people that happen to sit around me that are just as important as the actual seat locations themselves. I had some of the best seats in the house last year but there were times when I wanted to strangle the old lady that sat right behind me. They didn't make enough whiskey to numb the pain of her annoying voice.

Can't wait for the first game and another year of Cyclone football even if I can't see over the bench. Go Cyclones...it's going to be a great year!

Re: Anyone in Ames get their FB seat assignment letter today?

I received mine today - live in Ames.
BTW, I sit in row 8, lower level, west side, and love it. As was mentioned, I'm only blocked out when sideline action occurs in front of the players. It's fun to hear all the stuff going on with the opposing team.

I didn't get anything in the mail today.

Oh... people will come Mr. Pollard. People will most definitely come.

No, I don't live in Seattle anymore, I'm back in Des Moines but I don't feel like changing my username.

Does anyone know when people in the States 250 group find out which lot they are assigned to?

In Ames and still waiting. Maybe today...? We're gold, and moved last year in an effort to help our request for 4 seats together this year in our requested area.

I received mine today (Monday) - live in Okoboji .

A few interesting things in the letter....
* 2,100 seats were eliminated from the stadium from last year
* 2,600 patrons requested location changes
* There was a tremendous response to maintain or increase donation levels
* Very few seats were available in the priority seating sections

We have seats row 11 section 27, and they are some of the best seats in the house, plus jack whitver sits right in front of us, hes such a great guy, and has a brilliant football mind.

Got mine today. Not quite where I wanted to be, but within 2 rows in the section I want so I can't complain too much.
