It's not about being smarter.

I was about as big as a supporter of the show as you can be as an out of stater (when Cyclone stuff was on), but it doesn't seem right to basically advertise on this message board, be a part of the community, then use that community on the air to further perpetuate to Hawk fans the attitude of a few posters here, calling them out by username. That's the kind of stuff that I can do without. Especially because I know there will never be a show where he spends 20 minutes talking about the completely delusional fans on the other side, from his message board or any other Hawk site. I understand he needs his ratings, but I'm not going to play that game, therefore he is minus at least one listener.

This thing from a few weeks ago is getting way overblown - still. A few people got called out annonomously - whoop-dee-doo! Seriously, not a single soul was harmed in any way. If anything, this site got plenty of free publicity. As I recall, a couple new members appeared that day and a day or two later. Win.

I've listened on days when the Hawk fans/message board posters were called out - some ugly stuff. Albiet it's been a while and it's far less frequent than Cyclones getting "abused" - but it has in fact happened more than once.

I admit that I am probably being hypersensitive over this, but I grew up with plenty of Hawk boors that relished doing just what was done on the radio show. That was junior high. My mistake is expecting more than that level of banter on a grown-up's radio program.

I know it's your opinion that it was harmless, but this is mine, and I can boycott what I like.

Jon - I sent you a private message after reading the message board about the show referenced above. I commented then that I think you violated a lot of people's trust that you had developed on this site. After reading many of these posts, I stand by that sentiment.

You could try to redeem yourself by blasting Hawk fans (wouldn't really help, but we'd enjoy it nonetheless), or by apologizing at the end of the Walters segment today.

Or you can continue as you have, build up more trust and reputation - and then blast us again.....

My position and question remains - did this site not benefit from it in the same way?

The ad revenue here is based on visits and ad clicks. The more people that show up, the more ad revenue.

Your boycott I will never debate - each person can choose to listen to or not listen to any show. But as I said, today one of our very own is getting interviewed and here we are again - debating the person bringing us said interview.

I think you know that I don't blindly wear the Cyclone blinders. He can call out whoever he wants on his show. I just thought (and still think) it's bush league. Having to resort to making fun of internet message board posters because you cannot sustain 2 hours of sports talk per day...that says enough about the "quality" of his show.

I think his show is boring and I'd say that to his face. It's nothing personal, it's just my opinion. But I'd listen when he had Cyclone guests on. Not any longer though...I wonder if John Walters knows the anti-Cyclone rant JM went on the other day?
