So nothing new from Walters? He predicted 4-6 wins...anything else?

I know it's your opinion that it was harmless, but this is mine, and I can boycott what I like. I agree. I think that Jon takes shots at ISU fans and plays it off as a bigger part of the Cyclone fanbase than reality. Hawk posters do not get that critical eye. I really did not appreciate the whole diatribe about some city newspaper article down in FL about titleless towns and how Ames should be #1. I think that was JR High-ish and in poor taste. Unfortunately, plenty of hok fans swallow this crap hook line and sinker.
I didn't listen to the Walters interview either.

Doesn't look good Jon. Usually this site lights up after you've discussed ISU on your program. I think a lot of posters here feel you owe them an apology, and even if you do, will probably still take awhile to forgive you.
Today was only the second time I've ever listened, and it's because of this site (maybe you should pay some royalties???).
Kind of like politics - you've got the Hawk fans because you're a Hawk - if you want to increase your listening audience you're going to have to gain the trust and respect of ISU fans. Otherwise, you've got what you've got and can make a living off of fans that thrive on little more than bashing ISU. If you want to be a sports authority, you're going to have to become more sports based.
Enjoyed the show today though.

Does anybody want to let us know what Walters said or is it going to be a nonstop pissing match around here?

Walters was IMO relatively positive while still being realistic. They basically went through the team by area - QB's, OL, WR's, DL, LB's, and then ran out of time. Walters seemed to be fairly confident in every area - except said what many others have already said - the level of success with this team will depend on players stepping up on the DL and LB corps.

Yes, every once in a while he puts on the Cardinal Colored Glasses with the Gold Frames but for the most part he calls it in a very realistic way without allowing the fan base to get down.

Not a lot that I can recall different from what I've read on this site. He did say he thought that Bibbs would step up at LB and be the difference maker this year. Talked a lot about the OL - also about Jason Scales and his value to the team in short-yardage situations.
He thought we'd be hurt in the red-zone w/o Blythe - but we were terrible there last year. I'm hopeful the OL/running game will take care of that.
Oh yeah - he also thought Messiah would really step up at WR - but he did qualify that and say Messiah was working with him as an intern this summer.

Both Miller and Walters talked about the huge amount of potential from the running backs. Walters said he believed Austen and Bates would likely share snaps this year and Miller agreed. He also said that on the Cyclone Tailgate summer things he noticed the huge arms on Bates and how he thought overall the team is in better shape after having a year in Sheppard's (sorry if I botched the spelling) weight lifting program. Overall, he was quite positive and optimistic about things. Did mention he was concerned about the middle of the D-Line.
As stated earlier he just kinda said a conglomerate of things that have been previously speculated at or analyzed on this site.
Miller was actually pretty good I thought. I'd never listened to his show until today and had I not read this site before I would have had no idea he leaned toward the Hawks. He did comment about the lack of the thermometer before Walters was on but that was while he was also noting EIU had also not released info. He also talked about the terrible performances of both schools in the director cup.
Thanks for a solid interview Jon.
