With the seat assignment letter stating there would be 2,100 fewer seats - what is the actual seating capacity of the Jack?

For those of us not buying assigned-seat season tickets, what did the letter say?

There is a separate thread on the seating assignment letters.
The other item other than fewer seats was 2,600 requested re-seating and not all could be accomidated.

So here is my take.
The actual seating of JT is 42,500 + 3800ish South endzone seats. So 45,800 actuall seats - 2,100 seats demo'd so we now have 43700 seats plus whatever seats they drag out in the north. ISU then tacks on 10,000 seats for the 4 hills to make our new capacity 53,700 capacity. I am sure they will probably just stick with 55K though until Phase 2 is complete.
So in conclustion..If our stadium only seats 43,700 actual seats which is flirting with a conference USA, MWC school so we need to nut up and get Phase 2 done so we have a real stadium even if its for recruiting only.

How do 15,000 empty seats help with recruiting?
Phase 2 won't happen until we can consistently fill the stadium we have now. Which we might do...or maybe not...well, who knows. It's not like there's a thermometer or anything we can check to see how season ticket sales are going.

Phase 2 is going to happen when we get the money...were not just gonna receive a big gift from a donor and put it in our back pocket for ten years until we can win and fill the seats and only add half the seats of what we could've those ten years ago due to escalation in prices of almost everything.

If we have to many empty seats - lower the price. You'll fill them. The amount of money may be the same in the end, but if your only goal is to fill it - lower the price.

I know it's not as if we haven't averaged over capacity the past couple of years or anything. Wait, I forgot we have. I think we were like 1 of 4 to do that.

Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

The capacity of the stadium will only increase a few thousand (if you count the hills). I think Jamie said it would make the stadium around 60,000 seats. Not 100% on that.
Trust me....We are way better off with empty seats than having people on hills. Maybe we can roll out a blanket, have a picnic and join the MAC.
Plus for a couple of games a year you sell it out no matter how bad your team is.
If Gene turns this around and we start winning big games, people are going to be suprised how many people start coming to games.
I bet we would have no issues selling out a game if we were playing Texas A&M and we were both 6-1, but its not going to happen without facilities and time. That is what this project is about....Competing facilities and planning for the future.

I think the stadium project itself will bring more people to the games, and not just because of people coming to see the new addition. I think the endzone project will do a great deal to improve the gameday experience/environment. I think that alone will make gameday at JTS much more enjoyable, which will in turn help with attendance. If Chizik can start winning on top of that, the question won't be what to do with 60k seats, the question will be, when do we build phase 3?

I check the webcam almost everyday. I am getting pretty excited if this donation happens and we get moving on the endzone and the rest of the stadium updates following this season. After that...well I think we will have a great facility. No need for the phase three for a while http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/...wacky/wink.gif |

We can't just sit on our butts and not upgrade the stadium and capacity to that of a Big XII school. If we do we just relegate ourselves to being in the lower class of the BCS conference schools and Pollard isn't going to allow that.
