Season Ticket Sales

Does anyone know how season ticket sales are going? The Athletic Dept. seems to be pretty quiet about this after blanketing us last year.

You just opened a huge can of worms. Hopefully people are too sick of talking about it to argue.

Re: Season Ticket Sales

What strikes me as odd is not that we haven't heard the constant updates that we did last year, but there hasn't seemed to be any push to sell tickets. That makes me wonder if it's going better than expected.

Maybe they're just waiting to start the sales push after announcing the major donation, and they plan on using that excitement as sales leverage. Who knows.

I am thinking this as well. Personally, of all the people I know there has been no dropping of tickets, only maintaining or upping.

Yes I know people on this board have stated that they have had to forgo tickets or donation for whatever reason.

If tickets sales were behind last year (by a lot) don't you think JP would be doing everything in his power to advertise/get the word out/discount. After successful sales last year, I doubt he has any plans of slowing down.

Re: Season Ticket Sales

Well, we do know that the end zone seating is virtually sold out...

Cyclones' End Zone Seating Gone - Iowa State University Athletics Official Web Site - www.CYCLONES.com - Iowa State Cyclones Sports

...so at least that seems to be going well.

My guess (and it's only a guess) is that ticket sales this year are comparable to last year. Maybe slightly below last year's levels.

Last year there were a number of people (not a majority, but a large enough number to be noticed) who complained that there was too much hype leading up to a less-than-stellar season. We're probably losing some of those people but picking up some others who can see the general direction in which the program is heading.

This year's team may only be slightly better than last year's, so if ticket sales this year are already comparable to last year, there's probably not much need to hype it up again only to have a sub-par season again. If next year is going to be a breakout year as many people expect, I believe we'll see a very big push then.

I honestly think they are just waiting for the dust to settle on the reseating so they can ***** the situation and go from there. I think the reseating took longer than they were anticipating. My guess would be we will see some type of marketing of seats in the very near future.

When all is said and done, more is said than done

Re: Season Ticket Sales

Tickets sales appear to be going well with all of the people who upped their donation yet did not get seating upgrades.

It is strange we haven't heard anything...

Re: Season Ticket Sales

That may or may not be accurate. Bottom line, donors did not get to many upgrades. Why?

-3000-3,500 seats out of play not available for upgrades (original donors who do not make any more donations)
-2100 seats eliminated and these were reseated first.
-?? Upgraded to keep there seats by matching the donation
-Directors level had the chance to pick up 4 additional tickets from before, taking another 400 off the table.

When these are subtracted off, there was probably not much room for movement or seat upgrades in the captains and Victory level.

So, we could still be down on overall sales and it is a case of options being limited between the 30's
