Re: No standing at ISU FB games?

We could change the words on the traditional get fired up sports song played during games. It's currently... da da DA DA DA, "HEY" da da da dada - WE'RE GONNA BEAT THE ____ OUT OF YOU!".

We would have to change it to "were gonna sit the whole game through".

Just doesn't have the same ring to me.

ISU fans are the greatest in the world. All they ask for is hope and the belief that we have a chance to win every time we step on the field - Johnny Majors (paraphrased)

Ya gotta have the horses, man - Johnny Orr.

Re: No standing at ISU FB games?

I would be curious to see how many of the "Top 25 Toughest Places to Play" have an issue with sitting or standing. I would imagine all 25 stand almost the entire game.

Re: No standing at ISU FB games?

Would they play Celine Dion during timeouts to make sure to keep people unmotivated?

And as crummy as this one felt, Cyclone fans, it could be a lot worse. You could be a Hawkeye. - Sean Keeler (imagine that, actually quoting Keeler!)

I think if it became a requirement to stay seated for the entire game it may be more of a science experiment then anything else. They will be testing the theory of spontaneous combustion.

My favorite Drake Relay's saying or least favorite..."EVERYONE SITS, EVERYONE SEES" It is a very true saying, but there is no fun in that, when a race gets tight you need to stand up.

Gene Chizik wants you fired up and excited about Cyclone football. That can't happen if you're forced to sit.

Besides if I want to sit I'll go to Carver Hawkeye and watch a basketball game.

Re: No standing at ISU FB games?

Maybe they could go with a small section (5 or so rows) in the front on the goal line where no standing is allowed. They could charge more for it and everyone would be happy.

Heck, I even stand when watching at home sometimes. Also, my guess is seats are designed anymore for people to be jumping up and down on them.

Use to attend quite a few NFL games.

No atmosphere compared to the college game.

Re: No standing at ISU FB games?

In student sections there should always be standing. In every other section, standing should be optional. Whenever I sit somewhere at an event, if I get up to stand I try to be courteous to the people behind me as much as possible... but I will still get up to cheer.

Chizik: "One thing that I’d encourage our fans…I want them to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. I don’t care…I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it…let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

Exactly! I'm all over my house walking and getting frustrated or excited for away games. (Unfortunately on the radio usually!)

The "no standing allowed" section should be in a place that easily accessible to the stadium exits. I would wager that the same people who complain about people standing during a football or basketball game are the same people who need to get to their cars with 5 minutes left in a tie game.

Re: No standing at ISU FB games?

If there were not standing at football games, I can't see myself going. Other than not being able to watch it on TV, there would be no benefit to going to the game. I don't stand the whole game, far from it. Kick offs, touchdowns, 3rd downs, big plays, etc. Without being able to really get up and cheer in those situations, I'd rather just watch the game at home.

People are allowed to stand during football games? I have not seen much of that the past few years.

Maybe soon we will have something to stand for.
