But overall, for just a 1 page writeup...seems fair with a little bit of expected South bias. Right, no way 5 or 6 south teams goes 8-4 or better. I'm also still not buying a winning season for Colorado.

Call me crazy, but I just don't see us losing to Baylor, even if it is at Waco. I think everyone seems to forget that not only is Baylor terrible, but they are also going through a coaching change. Even with our road woes, it always seems like we've been able to win at Baylor, and I think that trend continues.

If we can lose to Baylor at home, we can sure as hell lose to them on the road - regardless of how bad they are.

Re: Dallas Morning News quick preview
I'm not totally against 5 of 6 south teams being around 8-4 or better. A&M is a senior laden team, but a new coach. OSU returns a lot from a dynamic team, but they're the new Texas Tech (high octane offense, no D, and you don't know when they're going to score 40 or lose 30-0). But yeah - probably a little South biased.
I still don't see why a predicted win AT KSU is what people are saying. It's a road game, and they'll be trying to improve as well. It's a toss up game. I'd be more comfortable them predicting a win at home for homecoming vs. A&M. or maybe Nebraska. But whatever - just nitpicking there.
When DMN puts out their full preview, I'll try and get it on here...

Re: Dallas Morning News quick preview
I always liked Bret but I don't think there will that much of a drop off at QB. Most of the media just see ISU losing a QB that started 3.5 years and think there will be a huge drop off. They are not considering the change in the offensive scheme last year and how Bret had only that year in the system where we now have a QB going into year 2.
I sure hope they are wrong on the 4-8 and 1-7.

You think they are favoring the South a little much?

I'd be more concerned if Arnaud had not seen any time at QB (I am assuming he'll be our #1 QB), but he did get to see some time - in spots when the game was on the line too.
I like Meyer, but his fundamentals at the collegiate level were not good and I'm kinda being nice. Arnaud is much more sound in that area - it will come down to him being able to handle the pressure and make the right decisions when the bullets are flying.
He seemed to do a good enough job of that last season, we'll see if he can do the same if/when he's the guy.

Wanna be the first? Nope. As I've said before, we were completely inept in those games. I mean, there are some D-II teams that probably could've given us a run in the first few weeks of '07. We were nothing short of horrid.
I don't see that happening this year.
Baylor '05 and non-conference '07 are two completely unrelated issues. The fact is, we have not really dominated Baylor as people would like to think, in Waco or Ames.

Wanna be the first? I will be the first to predict that I State is 0-0 right now. Also, I will say that the team will play one game at a time, like most teams do. I do however see us winning at least 5, with about 3 more games being questionable. Nevertheless, I am a just a fan so take that with a grain of salt. -

Baylor '05 and non-conference '07 are two completely unrelated issues. The fact is, we have not really dominated Baylor as people would like to think, in Waco or Ames. Well, since the Big XII formed in 1996, we're 4-2 against them, with 1996 21-49, 1997 24-17, 2000 31-17, 2001 41-0, 2004 26-25, and 2005 13-23. Granted, the last two games haven't been pretty, but they are one of the few (if only) Big XII teams that we've actually beaten on a regular basis. Granted, like you imply, history can be a poor indicator in determining the future, but I just don't see Chizik & Co having a mental breakdown against freakin' Baylor team, especially when they're worse off than we were last year. My personal feel is Chizik's going to smell blood in the water and is going to have the team attacking in all aspects of the game. Could we lose? Sure. I'm just not counting on it in this one game.

Re: Dallas Morning News quick preview
It's not whether we'll have a mental breakdown, we're simply talking about a road conference game - which we're known for our lackluster performance in those - including last season.
Just as we improved last year under our new staff, I'd assume Baylor will do the same.
If I was forced to pick a W or L for that game, I'd go toward the W - but definitely not feeling as good about it as you.
I like our chances against A&M and Nebraska at home as much as I do Baylor on the road.
