depending on how the offense grows throughout the season i think 6-7 wins is likely happen, and the possibility for 8 is there maybe even 9 with a lot of luck... i would be thrilled with 6-6 or 7-5

I say 4-8. We should win 2 of our OOC games, I'm betting the first two. We haven't played well on the road in recent history and I think UNLV will be a tougher test than most realize. They had Wisconsin on the ropes last year.
That said, I think there will be probably one conference road win (Baylor, most likely) and one home win (either Kansas or Nebraska). I do think we will play both A&M and Mizzou close.

5-7
My dream is for Mizzou to be ranked #1 and undefeated when they come to JTS. Then beat the living crap out of 'em. They ruined 2004 for us, lets ruin 2008 for them. It can be the second team ISU has kept from playing for the national championship....cough...2002...cough
| Some People see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say why not? When I took this job I said why not Iowa State? Why not winning? Why not bowl games? Why not sell outs? Why not national respect? Why not us? Why not here? Why not the cyclone family? |

I think that they end up 5-7 with an outside chance at 6-6. Mizzou is the one team on the schedule that is a sure loss, even though ISU played them tough last year. KU will be tough to beat as well...same with CU and OSU on the road. I think that they have a 50/50 shot at iowa, Nebraska and A&M. Baylor and UNLV will be tougher than they look just because the games are on the road. They should be able to beat KSU as I think that they'll be circling the drain by the time that game comes and Prince will be on the firing line.
I think that 6-6 is about the best they can hope for (and a possible bowl win?). 2009 is when it should all come together.

A win over kNU would be huge, maybe even more so than EIU. (a poll question in itself) IMO, mizzou is definitely a wait and see. We would have beat them and also won the north had we not knocked Brad Smith out of the game and got beat by some then unknown sophmore a few years back.
We must be learning from our mistakes as the defense found it crucial not to knock Jake C. out of the game against EIU last year. A QB can certainly make or break a team.
I have yet to see anything from our QB's to indicate that they are legitimate passing threats. However, if they can run and run well, plenty of opportunities in the passing game will open up.

Six-to-nine wins is an awfully big gap...I see seven myself.

I see either 5-7 or 6-6. That is assuming we are solid at QB and in the kicking game, with new faces in each of those rolls. I don't think it is too much to ask for us to at least hold steady at those positions, because they have been far less than stellar the last few years. Of course I can also see them falling flat and the team having another disappointing season.... it is Iowa State after all, and those things seem to have a way of happening to us.
