SDSU vs. ISU
Good day to all the Cyclone fans!
SDSU fan, SUPERBUNNY here. Looking forward to coming to Ames for the game on the 28th of August.
Just looking for any helpful hints when it comes to tailgating, availability of tickets, and anything else you can throw our way. My guess is we will have a large contingent of fans coming from South Dakota since this is our first game against a BCS team.
I've heard the atmospher in Ames is great and looking forward to making the trip.
How's your team going to be this year? We lost a few key players but return a team that should be pretty good. The feeling here is that it should be a competitive game.
Thanks in advance for the information and look forward to seeing you in August!
Go Jacks!

SUPERBUNNY He's just giving you a hard time. I suggest you come back to the board around when we play Mizzou, I'm sure Roger will be back in fine form.
If you ever see 'Tuff as Rain' posted anywhere on the interwebs, know that Roger has been there and the place has been forever changed...

Re: SDSU vs. ISU
There is plenty of public parking south east of the stadium- I believe the lots open 6 hours prior to kick off.

The atmosphere is great. 95% of the Cyclone fans will make you feel welcome so don't hesitate to talk to the fans around your tailgate (as long as you aren't one of those obnoxious, annoying ****-talking fans).
You should be able to get tickets...its a Thursday night game and won't be a sellout.

SUPERBUNNY Do a search for "sprague" on this site. You'll find some of the most off-the-wall, hilarious stuff on the interwebs.
I hope you"re welcome to it.

Re: SDSU vs. ISU
Will tickets be easily available for the SDSU game either on the street or from the ticket office?
How about a tailgate spot? We have a very fun crew but are very respectful of our opponents. We want to be mixing it up in a great spot. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
SUPERBUNNY

Re: SDSU vs. ISU
Welcome.
I've never been on the opponent's side when coming to Ames, but I'd like to think we're pretty good folk. If you have time, take a walk around central campus. It's gorgeous in the fall.
Tickets you probably won't have a problem with. Thursday games are a little lower attended than the others. I'd say to go on the west side, (where the SDSU ticket office will have their tickets). That side is currently being renovated with all-new bathrooms, concessions, etc. and will be finished by the time you get to campus. Should be a little nicer than the east side.
Tailgating, there are grass lots southeast of the stadium where you can park for (relatively) cheap. I think it's like $15 or so. Tailgating opens around 6 hours prior to kickoff, probably a little earlier than that.
For hotels, there's some nice ones close to campus (Gateway) that will be a little pricey, and most of the other hotels are out by I-35. If you want to save some money, you might want to check out the Memorial Union, they have serviceable rooms for around $80 or so.
Team should be pretty good. We lost some people but if we can ride the momentum of the end of last year, there could be some pleasant surprises for us.
Oh yeah, and go to Hickory Park. Don't be discouraged if it looks like it's overflowing. That place mows through people. After the game if you're sticking around, head to Campustown for a gyro. Best in the country.

Yes tickets will be available both from the ticket office (right outside the stadium) or people selling them on the streets.
Just get into one of the grass lots to the East of the stadium. This is where most people tailgate (except for those hoighty toighty folk over there on their fancy concrete). Tailgating at the Jack is excellent and you'll be treated well no matter where you are, unless anybody is wearing a Tiger Hawk. Expect flying beer cans if this is the case

The grass lots to the south and east of the stadium are excellent spots to tailgate. There should be plenty of room in you come early. Parking is (or was last year) $15. There will be tons of tailgating, grilling, drinking, games, etc.
